Tweety is so erudite .. quoting Wm. Blake! But he got it wrong.
Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

1. Don't you just HATE it
when Tweety tries to wax poetic and play the sage?

I love that poem. Why was he quoting it?

4. He connected the GOP to Blake's "fearful symmetry."
But he botched it.

8. Blake's Tyger was about the French Revolution
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 07:26 PM by Dems Will Win
The Revolutionaries were the Tyger, with his muscular fearful "symmetry", a word some scholars believe Blake used to cover up his true anti-king feelings (which would have gotten him hung under the Sedition Act).

What Blake meant by "symmetry" was

SEE -- ME -- TRY!

ROAR!

The Stars Falling from the sky were the King and the nobility. "Seize the Fire" means take up arms and overthrow the established order.

All was written in hidden language -- The Blake Code!

For his friends, like the first feminist Mary Wollstonecraft or radical Tom Paine, Blake might have read The Tyger like this:

Tyger, tyger burning bright,
in the forests of the night,
what immortal hand or eye,
could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies,
burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?
and what shoulder, & what art, could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat, what dread hand?
& what dread feet? What the hammer?
And what the chain,in what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil ? What dread grasp, dare its deadly terrors clasp!

When The "stars" threw down their spears
and water'd heaven with their tears:
did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Tyger, tyger burning bright,
in the forests of the night,
what immortal hand or eye,
dare frame thy fearful -- -- SEE ME TRY!!

15. "Blake's Tyger was about the French Revolution" Maybe, maybe not.
There are other, just as wild, interpretations.

5. Rainy Night in Georgia (one of my favorite songs!)
I sold the NC mountain place in March. I'm in rainy Greenville, SC, now. However, Dr. D. has me looking for another mountain place, a little closer to Greenville.

12. Mine, too. I knew you'd sold the mountain place -- you

posted a photo of that gorgeous house you bought in Greenville last time we chatted, plus a photo of the mountain house with the wonderful dog who pooped on Cheney's lawn. (I promised myself I'd always remember that dog's name but you know how it is for us older folks -- brain overload.)

I love the rainy nights and days, too, not just the song. Good thing, since I live here.

Sirius died 8/25/2005.

18. R.I.P., Sirius. I won't forget his name again -- saved photo

to my desktop to go in my pet pix file. When they're here for Thanksgiving, my kids will love seeing a photo of the dog who pooped on Cheney's lawn.

6. I don't understand...
It reads correct for the LAST line of the poem. Mac, I'm cable challenged so I didn't see Tweety make the blunder. What did he actually say?

Ironically, I have posted that poem (one of my favorites) several times lately.

7. Not only that, but he attributed it
unless I misheard him, to ROBERT Blake, not William.

Oh, well.
