1. Win or lose Governor Dean deserves our appreciation.
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 06:58 PM by last1standing
His 50 state strategy was perfect for this election and he knew it before any other major politician.

Thank you, Howard.

Of course, he had lots of help from the Repigs

I told her I was wearing it for good luck. She said we've got to get these crooks out.

Just the fact that this older lady in Houston, TX would know who Howard Dean was and be thrilled to see me, made my whole week!

Dean come on he made fun of him. *steamed* I told him the good doctor was a great man and that he was doing great things for the DNC. Interestly, once KO got to his comment segment BIL has nothing to say about it. *g* Irrefutable stuff.

You knew the old 90s strategy of targetting states was just WRONG and all those states that went neglected for 10 years finally received the support they needed from the national Dem party who left them to collapse.

Salute to the Chairman.

59. And I remember something he said early on, which impressed me
I think he was still a candidate in the primaries when he said (paraphrasing) that he intended to go to places where Demsn don't usually go because while people may not agree with your positions, they RESPECT you for coming into their area and saying what you believe. I think he's right about that, btw. I'll add that sometimes when you actually engage people, they listen and end up hearing things they've never heard before, or hear them in a new way.

Don't concede any states. It's a sign of respect to ask all
people for their vote even if you expect them to say no. Dr.
Dean has his priorities straight, win, yes, but with respect.

28. The Doc has been proven right about everything he said in 2003-2004
The entire country would be much better off if he had been President since January 2005. But the same 50 state strategy he advocated as a candidate has been proven effective under his leadership as DNC chairman. And a lot of those "guys with confederate flags and gun racks in the back of their trucks" are voting for Democrats today.

Dad bless you Howard Dean!

33. He has been been talking about change since 2003, early on.
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/487
From March 2003

"I have never lost an election. But my career has never been about winning elections. My career in this campaign is about changing the Democratic Party, it's about changing America, and this campaign is about taking back the White House so we can have health insurance, so we can have a balanced budget, so we can have an inclusive society where everybody believes in each other and believes in America."

"We are not going to beat George Bush by voting with the president 85% of the time. The only way we will beat George Bush is to stand up and say who we are, to lift up a Democratic agenda against the Republican agenda, because if you do that the Democratic agenda wins every time."

And he is still trying the change the party in a different role.

Nice post.

And I definitely add my thanks to him here. Thanks for daring to stand up to the establishment (Dem and Repub). Thanks for standing up for the voters. Thanks for sticking to his guns on the 50-state strategy, in spite of Rahm and his ilk.

I think (and hope) we'll see the results tonight.

Thank you, sir. Because of you, I became involved in politics. You were the first politician I ever gave money to a campaign for, and after you were out of the running, I continued to give what money I had to the candidates that you believed would be good for this country. 60. Who else deserves some credit
It occurred to me, as I was reading this whole thread, that there are some other folks who deserve a shout out too: all those delegates from 50 states who REFUSED to kowtow to the Washingtonians (the Establishment Dems like Hillary and Rahm and others) who wanted to install ABD -- Anybody But Dean as DNC chair.

Dean wooed the delegates, it's true, but it was their votes who made him chairman. THEY were bright and savvy and fed up with the Washingtonians and DLCers enough to put Dean in. God bless 'em!
