Tone of the filibuster debate--avoid personal attacks

Democrats urging a filibuster of Judge Alito need to keep the focus on constitutional issues particularly the issue of the unitary executive.
As tempting as it may be, personal attacks should be avoided.

Drop the Vanguard and CAP issues.

They should present themselves of defenders of the constitution. Their speeches should be impassioned yet dignified. They should give no free soundbites to the right wing spin factory.

They should constantly point out that Alito is far beyond the mainstream and that he owes his nomination to groups who sole reason for existance is turn America into something that most Americans would not enjoy living in.

This is not about Alito--this is about America and the constitution.

1. I hate to say it

You are dead right, and it's far far too late for that. This is what the democratic members of the Judiciary comittee should have done.

But they didn't, and now, even if we all say the same thing, the message will be jumbled. It's very very frusterating.
