A Filibuster Debate Is Needed We Have Everything To Gain, Nothing To Lose:
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 09:44 AM by Jon8503
The Democratic Party has a chance to show it really does have a spine and balls. First of all, you have an appointment that is so far off the rightwing scale and everything else against what the democratic party is supposed to stand for along with the rights of women to choose, our freedom, etc. How could the leaders of the party not even consider not putting up a fight.

So you have those such as Tweety saying it will cause a backlash to the party, a fight the party can't win, a waste of time, he deserves appointment because he is qualified. Hell, was Hitler qualified to run a country, doesn't mean he morally should have been in that position. (Not comparing Alito to Hitler, just a point on the qualifications of the guy they keep bringing up).

Besides there are all kinds of points they could make about dangers of this appoointment of the guy and after a few weeks if he is appointed to the court, Tweety and his band of elves will go on to some other non-important issue such as Martha's muffins or her window curtains.

In the end, after a few votes by Alito and Roberts, possibly, just possibly, the American people will wake up and see that to get this thing turned around or stopped, maybe they need to vote democratic. But first, you need to put up a fight, otherwise why should anyone else be concerned.

"John Kerry: "I spent a lot of time over the last years thinking about the Supreme Court and who America needs on the highest court in the land. So I don't hesitate a minute in saying that Sam Alito is not that person.... People can say all they want that "elections have consequences." Trust me, more than anyone I understand that. But that seems like an awfully convoluted rationale for me to stay silent about Judge Alito's nomination."

1. Alll we have to lose are votes in November.....
Not much of a pay off for a political ploy that doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of keeping Altio off of the Supreme Court.

2. Just tell me whose votes they're losing.
They would lose far more votes by doing nothing. Turn off the media noise machine.

3. Such BS; the only votes you would lose are those votes you would
not get anyway. What the hell would you do if you were up against a bully or fight you knew you could'nt win. Just stand there like a coward.

If you know you are right then you fight for your rights. We will gain many votes by showing we hve some principal and fight for womens rights and everything else.

Are you going to vote against the democrats because they filibuster?

10. Trouble with that is
sometimes when you fight back and beat the crap out of the bully, you are now seen as the new bully.

6. I will continue to feed the "spine and balls" issue until they show they
have a spine and balls". It doesn't matter if you think this is a media ridicule or not.

It is the truth and there were those saying it here before the media even picked up on it.

The American people have bought into it because it is obvious.

in the last year have kicked ass. you chose not to see it because it is a way for you to feel like you are daring them into something. they arent little kids to be bullied. if they were taunted into this, then you could call them spineless. but they arent spineless and they wont be. you want to be totally non effective and not do this in an adult grown up way,..... then go for it. you hurt the party. you hurt our efforts.

my very bright ten yr old boy just read this post and readily agrees having watched that male behavior at school and saying huh

8. Sorry about your attitude and unadult ways of addressing
differences of opinion. Most people around here are able to disagree in a civilized manner without the Ann Coulter type of personality.

Appears you don't have that ability but appreciate your time.

Have a good day.
