Can't the Dems just send the Dems who will vote for cloture out of
Washington on Monday? Just read the obituaries for the states they come from and pick a goddamned funeral they absolutely must attend!

1. No, ask the ones who can't support a filibuster to at least abstain
..... from voting on cloture.

5. Abstaining doesn't have the same air of plausible denialbility
that "I simply had to attend the funeral of a prominent civic leader and/or close personal friend" (I don't care if they were a Den Mother or the milkman) does. Ask KKKarl Rove. Plus it would look really bad if the Repukes questioned someone's motives for going to a funeral.

2. Doesn't matter...

you have to get 41 "no" votes on your side. All the "yes" votes could not show up....still have to 41 on your side. Right now, doesn't look like it's going to happen...we'll have to have some more people change their minds.

IMO, what's happening is that many who will "filibuster" don't really want to, so they are finding Sens who are "safe" to cross party lines. That way, they can vote NO, look tough, say "I was for filibustering," all the time knowing he was going through.

Politics has become nothing more than a "game" of win or lose, instead of "standing on principle." SUX. Depressing.

On edit: Unless of course you can find enough to do it the "old-fashioned" way and truly filibuster...talk the damn thing to death. Maybe if we could get Biden on board with a filibuster like that...that man could talk for eternity as long as there is a camera in the room.

3. It is the other way around
You need 60 "yes" votes, no matter how many "now" votes there are.

4. You know...
you're right. I stand corrected. Sorry, my "depression" over seeing the "spineless" ones fogged up my brain for a minute. My bad.
