This is OUR chance to be heard! Can't make a few phonecalls? For chrissake
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 03:44 PM by BigBearJohn

I know everyone is trying hard, but let's try harder

hey... how hard can it be to send out some faxes,
some emails, some phonecalls? By the evidence so far, you can see we ARE making a
difference. I am no one to be telling you what to do, but I'm hoping I can motivate you to put in another 10-20%!!!

Let's laser in on the remaining senators who "say" they are going to support Alito.
Totally and utterly inundate them with communications from fellow Democrats.
Don't let up. It's just a couple of more days.

Contact your friends. Make them realize how important this is. Get them involved.
Greater things have been accomplished by fewer people. Look at Gandhi -- Look at
Mother Theresa -- Look at Martin Luther King... the list goes on.

It's just too easy to throw up our hands and give up. How many of our ancestors
took beatings and died for our democracy... and we can't be creative enough to
come up with ideas to deluge our opponents with emails, faxes, telegrams, phonecalls?

Come on... just a few more days. BE CREATIVE! I'm sick with the flu now, but
my fax machine is purring away. I'm making phone calls... emailing friends... letting
them know how urgent this is. If I pester a few friends in the process... so what?

For contact #'s and faxes, read this post please: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=263180&mesg_id=263321

8. Hit the media too
There are several Republicans who are considering no votes on Alito and the media should be reporting that. There is no strong Senate support, over 40 Senators have indicated they are either voting no or strongly considering no votes.

Snowe, Collins, Chaffee, Specter, all of them who say they're pro-choice, civil rights defenders, etc. Call them. Smith, Voinovich, and the other so-called moderates, call them. Supreme Court Justices are not about partisan politics or coups for the President to spout in his SOTU. This is about the future of 250 million Americans. No on Alito, no on cloture.

should have Broad Bipartisan Support. No Squeaker SCOTUS votes.

12. Still plugging away...
A tip: When calling, I tell the staffer that I have four people in my household. I say (kindly), "Will you count all four of us in favor of a filibuster so we don't have to make your phone ring three more times?"

Most have chuckled and noted the four.

14. Wow. Now THAT is creative. I just sent out emails to 100 people I know

asking for them to make ONE call or send ONE email.
If they can't do that, then don't cry to me when
we lose this democracy.

19. That is clever
I hadn't thought of it, and I do have 4 voters in my household and have actually made them call too! Will try your tip in the future.

17. ((( GET YOUR FRIENDS INVOLVED ))) Don't do all the work yourself!
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 04:45 PM by BigBearJohn

REMEMBER!! STRENGTH in NUMBERS!!!

Don't be shy! If you get 5 friends to each
to make one call or one email and you ask
each of those friends to commit to asking
one other friend to call...

THE RESULT COULD BE ASTONOMICAL IN PROPORTION -- DO IT!

Don't be shy! Our future is at stake. This is not the time to be timid.

18. Wanna hear something funny (well *I* think it's funny)

I'm playing the theme to "The Lone Ranger" (the William Tell Overture)
as I send out all these faxes and emails... it's keeping me pumped.

20. wanna know something funny -
I have contacted people I NEVER send political emails to - about this. Maybe they'll think I am crazy - maybe they will get educated and help.

It has motivated me more than the 2004 campaign.
