Things are happening and people are talking
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 12:12 AM by FreedomAngel82
Just word from the Young Turks a caller who is a blogger said that democrats were talking with each other and things are happening! One staffer on a senate committe who spoke to three aides to three senators (all democrats) who said the entire Cacus is talking to themselves about this! So many people are calling and faxing etc. and things are happening!

2. Thanks for this news!
Alito is not fit to be a Supreme Court judge. Unless this was Nazi Germany.

28. Isn't it great?
I'm cautiously optimistic....but yeah, the buzz and momentum is great. The Young Turks have been doing a bang up job.

What a concept!

8. Thanx for the update.
It has been so hard today to know what, if anything, is happening.

This is encouraging. Yeah!

Hopefully the dems are learning that they
need to start listening to us, the little people.
Not the corporations, not the Jack---offs of the world.

9. I am just sick that Senator Pryor is not supporting a filibuster.
I have contacted him to let him know he has lost my vote. I will never vote for a Republican, but I won't vote for Pryor. What a weenie!

10. If Pryor doesn't support the fillibuster...
We should find a real Democrat to fill his seat.

19. The Pryor name is big in Arkansas politics
Local people remember his father, who was a respected governor for 4 years and US Senator for 18 years. It would take a very, very strong Democratic opponent to unseat him in the primary. The last time a sitting Democratic Senator was defeated in a primary election in Arkansas was in 1974, when then-governor Dale Bumpers challenged and defeated one of the greatest US Senators of all time, J. William Fulbright.

13. I haven't heard yet how Kohl plans to vote, but I feel as you do...
...if he doesn't vote for me, I won't vote for him, either. I'll never vote for a Con, but this is an election year for Herbie, so he better act if he wants my support.

26. I'm still writing to him and calling...
I would run for senate myself against him, but I loved his father and I have no money and no name recognition. But someone has to get his attention or he is going to keep on being a Republican wrapped up in the name Democrat.

I can't wait to see his father next month at a dinner in town - I'm going to ask him to take that boy in hand!

31. Tell him to take that boy to the woodshed
Remind him of the time he voted against Bork. Alito is much worse than Bork.

14. Great post, Recommended! Things are happening. This will blow
people away. At worst, 46% oppose Alito. If you tell those polled that Alito has opposed Roe in the past it goes up to 56%. That's for starters.

Not bad base. Now, take it up to 60-70% and see how many of the "moderates" (moderate in the defense of the Constitution) vote for Alito or cloture.

Not many.

17. Kerry started it,
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 06:55 AM by Justice Is Comin
then Hillary...those were the two that started the glacier moving. Especially when Hillary signed on--monumental.

Now the flaming editorial in the NYT just in time for the Sunday shows and to hit those not on board yet over the head with it Monday. That's going to be quoted up the kazoo.

Monday, I'm going to use a little different quip to end my quick phone calls and see if I can punch through with the message being unique enough to get staffers to relay it. Also those I have to fax.

It's a short verse I heard years ago and never forgot it. It can give you the chills. Never did it apply more than now.

Fear knocked at the door.

Fate opened it.

And there was nobody there.

Senator let fate open that door. It's trying to save the constitution.

25. If nothing else
We've made our voices heard. Don't get me wrong -- Alito on the court is a disaster, and if he gets there, there's no victory here. However, at least our own Senators know we're out here now. Triangulation doesn't look so good any more.

We've heard for years how organized "they" are. Now, the dems know we're organized, too.
