7 pm: AP's Hope Yen claims the AP did its own canvass and found "at least 62" votes for cloture. I don't believe she actually verified her count with Senators this weekend - as opposed to just using my tally below, which relies on secondary sources - and I just emailed her to prove it by sending me the list. If she doesn't, she's a propagandist and a liar and I will demand a written apology from her Editor in Chief.

Alito's supporters must produce 60 votes to cut off a filibuster; an Associated Press tally shows at least 62.

The AP tally also shows that at least 53 Republicans and three Democrats intend to vote to confirm Alito; that is well over the required majority.
