I can't remember the last time I really paid attention to the words of this anthem, but it's so relevant to how I feel since Tuesday: after a horrific battle for Democracy, our flag is still there.

I had the same feeling as you the first time I heard the Anthem as the election returns were coming in so nicely. I was at the victory party for Nick Lampson, and about 250 of us sang it, and for the first time in a long time, I felt happy singing it, rather than distressed.
