They are here in Nevada. Up ten cents a gallon since Election Day. Seems just a bit of a coincidence to me.
Thank goodness I don't drive an SUV.

3. Is oil still below $60/barrel? |
|
If so, it becomes clear.
I've seen gas rise 20 cents on Monday - not even the day OF the election but close enough, and given the media being pro-Dem-win at the time...
The real fun will be by January, I'd guess...

only it started going up on election day. Does anyone know what we were paying when the price per barrel was at the same level about a year ago? I think it was like $1.90 or so????

9. Heck yeah...12 cents so far at my favorite low-cost station |
|
6 cents between Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 cents between Wednesday and Thursday. I expect it back around $3 a gallon about this time next week.
Big Oil processors need to get their profits in this year before they drop prices or get slammed with a "Windfall Profit Tax" next year. They took a risk that they could keep their buddies in; it didn't work.

filled up at the SAME gas station last Thursday for $2.25. It was up to $2.34 today. But I was expecting it, so it didn't really surprise me much.
Edited to mention that I'm in South Florida.

16. If true can be a double-edged sword |
|
If this actually happens (which I expected) the opposition could allege this was in response to concern that the new majority Democrats would investigate energy companies, tighten environmental and other regulation and generally upset the energy markets. This has the effect of driving up the cost of energy.
My view is there was manipulation by the big energy companies to try to reduce energy costs to help the Administration maintain Congress which had so loyally done their bidding.
But alas the American people saw through that and not only had they planned to start raising energy prices after the election regardless of who won but now they are going to exact revenge on the American public for daring to vote their darlings out of control.
