My neighbors 70-something mother in law tore my LAMPSON sign |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 09:02 PM by elehhhhna
off its posts, in my own personal front yard, Friday night, and threw it on the ground.
Reeps are just soooo funny! Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
My Hubs & our gloating other reep neighbor(why gloating? got me. THEY LOST) told me last night ( I've been busy & gone volunteering for CONGRESSMAN LAMPSON, D., Sugar Land.
The 70-something MIL had a stroke a few hours later. Luckily it was a small one, caught fast, and she is recovering w. no damage.
What do y'all make of this?
Karma?
I find it all quite disturbing but I'm not sure why.

...your neighbor's m-in-law defies that logic.
She is a sad human being. Fortunately, she's old, and will die soon.

54. That's possible. Another possibility: |
|
If a 70-year-old woman is so upset about somebody's candidate sign that she goes onto someone else's property to destroy it, there must be a lot of rage boiling in there. It's quite possible that she kept thinking about it and kept her blood pressure up enough for long enough that a blood vessel broke in her brain. That would, in a sense, be karma.

7. She seems to have anger issues and that may well have triggered stroke |
|
She is a bomb just looking for an excuse to blow.
Those bad chemicals running amok in her bloodstream need to be dealt with. One more argument for better mental health care in this country. People with continuing rage get sick or hurt other people.
Where's the link to the story about the 60-something woman who hit A COP with a sign she had put on a corner? Seems utility workers had to set the sign aside (public property) to do some work. The woman flipped out, picked the sign up and hit a cop doing traffic directing with it.
THEN she railed (while handcuffed in the po-lice station) that they couldn't treat her like that and she was gonna sue.
There are a lot of very big two year olds running around un-parented and unsupervised. It's sad.

when she did it. Lack of blood to the brain can cause people to do some strange things, can't they? Perhaps she was already winding up to the stroke she eventually had and was not fully in control of her actions when she did it?
Just giving her the benefit of the doubt.

37. I think it is always hard to tell what is happening on a karmic level |
|
to a person.
People who hurt us may reflect a soul group decision to provide a learning or debt repayment environment. So we should try not to judge what is happening, we may have placed ourselves in the situaton for soul growth.
In this case, her behavior leading up to the stroke indicates that she was highly emotional and irrational, normal adults do not openly destroy property in a neighbor's yard.
I am thinking that she may have been having some small strokes all along, hence the odd behavior and then she finally had a more obvious one.
And all of her anger is not helping her blood pressure and stroke situation.

Many GOPers may start melting down as the criminal activity of BushCo is revealed more and more. And it may take a toll on their health.
Their refusal to face the truth may result in physical and emotional problems for them. But hopefully they will adapt and be better for it, after having learned some hard lessons.

50. Look, she HATES my politics. She thinks I'm a hippie or something. |
|
But regardless, she loves me, too, despite herself.
Her unhappy, hateful daughter talked a lot of ugly about me (and everyone else) to anyone who'd listen. This daughter died in Jul 04 after a horrible struggle with cancer. She left two bereft children and an idiot child of a husband. Her son has been like a bro to my oldest daughter. He slept at our house for the last few weeks before his Mother died. I took him to the orthodintist, talked to the school Principal & Counselor about his situation (they hadn't been informed). I held him while she died. I showed him the signs that she was at peace. I prepared him to go in and see her body--and held his shaking hands through it all. I made her daughters favorite dessert EVERY day when she could eat nothing else. I found some pot for her--the big pro-booze/anti-herb lady--when the Oxycontin didn'twork anymore and she sheepishly begged me for help (scrounging it up was not easy, either. I had no contacts and couldn't ask the highschoolers, obviously). Half an hour after the delivery & some coaching/instructions, she called me -- giggling (!) and finally felt well enough to take a bath. I promised her I'd watch out for her kids, and I do. The daughter who'd once irrationally hated me told her family and her nurses in the last week of her life that I was her "good, good friend".
The Grandma knows in her heart that this hippie-freak liberal was there for her daughter and grandchildren more than she was. Had she planted a DeLay sign in my yard I'd have laughed. Throwing my sign down, when she knew I was working on Lampsons campaign...that hurt.
Rambling, yes. Glad to finally get it off my chest.

DH is, sadly, a repub. Alas. He's a good guy, just misguided in this regard--I think it's a lifelong family influence. Anyway, last night I came home to find two "HILLARY" signs on our neighbors' garage door. Our VERY wealthy, martini-drinking, golf-playing, life-of-leisure, up-there-in-years neighbors. The kind you assume would be repubs. I'm not sure if DH has seen those signs yet. He's not the type to tear down election signs, but you have made me realize that stroke is a very real possibility when he sees them.

Using that sweetness so many of us Texas ladies can offer--no matter what we think.
Offer to help out, bring over snacks. Turn the conversation to pleasant subjects--like your new Congressman. And poor Shelly Sekula Gibbs, elected to serve DeLay's unexpired term--since Lampson was not running for that temporary gig. She will probably be in DC for only a few days, for which she must resign from the Houston City Council. (Bless her heart!)
