To my Fellow Americans,

You want to fight Samuel Alito from becoming the next Supreme Court Justice? Well here is a useful tool pointed out to me on a political list. I first want to state that emails do nothing, writing letters and sending it snail mail will do nothing since most mail is held due to the anthrax scare after 9/11. So, if you want to send a free fax, here is what the poster suggested:

“I have been turned on to a terrific new program called “faxaway”. Now you don't have to get varicose veins standing at a fax machine to send faxes to ALL the senators!

You take the senators' fax numbers and use them as email addresses, remembering to add 1202 to the beginning of the number (no spaces or dashes) and @faxaway.com as a tail to the address. For example, Sen. Byrd's email address would be [e-mail].

They will take your email and turn it into a FAX.”

here's an example of what I sent to one Senator:

Dear Senator Bryon Dorgan, Please abstain on the filibuster vote this morning or stay away from it by visiting our soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital instead. There is just too much at stake for America.

A justice like Alito could make such a negative impact on the direction of our US Supreme Court for the next 40 years.

I'm sure you do not need to be reminded that Alito ruled that it was constitutional to strip search a 10-year old child without a warrant. No lawyer in their right mind would ever believe such a decision would survive the Constitutional muster of the 4th Amendment search and seizure clause.

This type of decision reflects upon competency and reveals the kind of person we can not have on the Court. Especially when, shortly, doubtless the issue of President Bush's warrantless domestic spying program will come before the Court and the 4th Amendment search and seizure will come into play, once again. With Alito on the bench, fat chance that the 4th Amendment will have any chance at all.

You are there for us, the Citizens of the United States of America!
