Y'all are so used to being defensive and fighting the enemy
now that we are the majority, you need to hit that off button occasionally. Just relax and enjoy it for a day or so. There is time enough for the rest.

from The Rude Pundit:

Anyone in this Bed Got a Cigarette?:
"Let's not worry about cleaning the sheets and ourselves just yet. Let's just lay here, sticky, sweaty, exhausted, blissful, and enjoy the way the sun seems a little brighter this morning..."

Love and Low Stress!

Now is not the time to relax. Trust me on this one.

5. I was actually referring to the infighting
since we beat the real enemy.

I just want everyone to enjoy the win a little - ya' know.
Just enjoy it. Truly.

Maybe it is the Florida attitude, but I see tourists down here that take 6 days to turn off the Blackberry, and pack up to go just as they begin to unwind. You need to recharge for 2008.

Thats all, I AM a mom after all. I worry about the blood pressure and ulcers!

newfound power and responsibilities? I'm, as always, optimistic.

23. I'm wondering about Bush's "signing statements"
Y'know, it'll still be a dogfight because of Junior and the "new rules" the congressional
Republicans came up with. For example, I wonder how they'll enjoy not being able to filibuster!

8. I can't believe you don't want to impeach that criminal. What the hell is wrong with you?
 :P j/k

The infighting started up pretty quick. I've been walking around stunned and with a silly grin on my face, along with occasional spurts of laughter.

9. my moment of election-night zen:
remembering Chris Matthews, all full of righteous indignation, snarling at the image of Hillary Clinton clapping along with her supporters, "I don't get it, its like Chinese or something, don't applaud yourself."

Every time I think of that, I giggle out loud. It doesn't matter if its in a check-out line, or driving the kids to practice.

I get such a kick out of his absurdity that night.

11. Speaking in tongues! LOL!
See, I have very consciously tried to remember pleasant things about that night and the next day.

Memories I can relive. Tweety's meltdown, how Keith laughed with (at) him. How DU was abuzz with 900 threads, but only 3 different thread titles because we were all too excited to check to see if anyone else had posted it yet.

I remember scrolling through a full two pages of thread titles, and every other thread was a different 'lead' or 'win'. How the three pinned threads at the top of GD kept registering wins for us.

I drank Sam Adams Octoberbest and ate Wheat Thins. Every time I indulge in those again, I will remember that taste of victory and thrill of feeling vindicated.

Impeachment was not even a tiny thought in the back of my brain. Committee chairs went from pipe dream to reality.

I am not giving those up so easily. I am going to relish how and where I was when it all went down. So I can tell my grandkids one day.

:)
I was drinking Long Trail, on DU and IMing with a couple of friends. One of those friends I've spent the last 4 elections talking to online or on the phone, this one was much different. Instead of a growing sense of dread there was a blossoming sense of optimism. We were cracking and laughing at bad jokes and watching the inevitable tide. I didn't go to sleep until around 4 that night, got about 3 1/2 hours sleep.

DU was crazy, everyone posting the same thing and threads were getting pushed off the first page within a minute or two. It was some wonderful chaos. :toast:
