I heard some DUers talk smack about the guy before the 06 election, but now that the Senate is ours, I take it we support him again?

28. What exaclty makes her qualified to be Majority Leader?
I don't see any reason to give the Senate's top job up to someone just so that they won't run for President.

4. He's not my ideal choice
But I can live with him.

I think John Kerry would make a fine Majority Leader, personally.

I think Harry Reid is competent.

23. Run, Russ, Run! Check out the new site
Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin has been travelling the nation raising money for other candidates and standing up for his progressive values. Feingold said he wanted to see how his progressive agenda resonated in the midterm elections and he would decide on rather to run for President in 2008 after the elections. Well, it's November 9th, many progressives were elected to the House and the Senate, and "Daffy" Donald Rumsfeld is an unpleasant memory. Now it's time for Russ to run!

7. Need strong leader, not necessarily the most liberal....
So yes, Reid has my vote.

And someone like Hoyt for Majority leader on the Dem side. They've proven their leadership credentials. I don't care if I don't agree with them on 150% of the issues.

35. That's right. You have to get people behind you and if he knows
how to do that, he should be the leader

11. You don't understand the Democratic Senate Leadership then...
Harry Reid was the Minority Leader.

Durbin was the Democratic Whip.

They've been working TOGETHER as 1-2 for years now.

I always thought that Durbin would be killer at the job. Yes I know it won't happen, but still think he'd own it.

16. RAWR!!!!!! Can you please look up their backgrounds????
Just a little bit of research????? PLEASE!!!!!

As I said before...

Harry Reid was the Democratic Minority leader in the Senate. He led the Dems in the Senate. Durbin was the Minority Whip in the Senate. In essence, Durbin has been Reid's #2 man. And guess what, he'll be MAJORITY WHIP. The #2 most powerful man in the Senate behind Reid. That's the leadership structure they've always had WORKING TOGETHER!

Hence me saying I know it won't happen. I am very happy with the idea of Durbin being the Majority Whip, and will gladly take it!

29. I'd like to see Reid step down in a few years and have Durbin take over
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 12:30 AM by Hippo_Tron
Durbin is more charismatic and does better on the talk shows than Reid, in my opinion. But lets give Reid a chance at running the senate. He has certainly earned it.

That guy is too weak. He's too easy to give in to "bi-partisanship" even after all the shit the repukes have dragged the Dems through. We need someone else who can speak strong, not a soft spoken little whimp who is not a fighter.
