Just the other day, I was thinking about how divided this country is. My concern with this is that divided people are just a hell of a lot easier to control and manipulate. So I was thinking, it would be good to include republicans in government, so on, so forth.
Then I came to my senses. The republicans did their very best to snub democrats at every opportunity. They voted against any amendments to bills democrats offered - most notably exemptions for people who got into debt due to extreme medical bills or veterans, from the suck-creditor's-member law. And when they gain control sometime in the future, they'll probably do the same thing again.
Still, divisiveness doesn't help us. So my position is that, if the republicans have ideas that are good and beneficial to the country, I hope that they are listened to with a lot more grace than our ideas were listened to. If, however, they talk like Jean Scmidt, the best response IMHO is to say, "We don't need that bullshit, talk to us again when you grow up." I think that most people in the country would appreciate that. And when the next campaign comes around and the republicans start throwing the shit around, the best response is, "Yeah, we've heard it all before. We eat babies, burn your crosses, yada yada yada. America needs real leadership from people who want to do good things, not this tired old crap again. Come back when you grow up."
As for impeachment I agree with just about everybody here that it is a worthwhile goal to have. In fact, I can't see how the issue can be avoided. It seems obvious to me that laws were broken my Bush is very serious ways, particularly with lying about Iraq (and the evidence says that they knowingly lied), wiretapping (being directly against the constitution), and torture. Letting these go for any reason really is not right! The best way to approach it is to do the investigations, lay out the facts to show exactly what happened, and let those speak for themselves. Many here have pointed out that starting with the punishment (impeachment) is the wrong way to go about it. Let the facts say that and they will achieve our goals for us.
