I'd like to say thank you to a special DUer tonight. |
|
I joined Democratic Underground back in 2001 because I was looking for information on what could be done when most of the Democrats in office such as Daschle and Gephart seemed so weak and unable to deal with the new repub majorities in all three branches of government. When I got here and started reading there was, as now, quite a bit of disagreement which often led to anger and name calling. But there was one DUer who always seemed to rise above it in my opinion so I came to like him very much and respect his opinions. He was the first person I saw who talked about Howard Dean and what he was trying to do. I read up on Dean and found that I liked what I saw. I supported Dean through the primaries and ,after the election, for DNC chair. Unfortunately, the guy who turned me on to him never got to see the results of Dean's persistence and vision. He never got the chance to celebrate the turn around of the Democratic party with the rest of us. He never got the chance to just say "I told you so". Tonight I'd like to say that I remember him and wish he was here with us today.
Thank you Khephra. We miss you.

I truly believe Khephra (aka Scott), Andy, and so many others are watching, guiding...
:toast: to those who have helped us, led us, motivated us, and sadly, left us to continue the fight.

2. Maybe we need an official thread to honor their memories. |
|
Khephra, Andy, Nostamj......I know there are others, and they all deserve to be remembered for their contributions here.

Or, at the very least, a list.
I know when I pass from this place my participation in DU will be something I will look back on with pride.

10. ALready suggested;I'm working on it. |

I had a thread where everyone posted those that had passed. After the election stuff is calmed down, I am working with the admins to put it together. Skinner and etc. asked me to get it going and then they will take it from there.

That's how I remember Kheph. He was already the king of posts when I joined and he would take the time to answer pm's from a newbie.

6. He definitely made me feel welcome. |
|
I don't know which of us joined first, but he made a mark on DU that can still be felt today, unlike myself. He was a very kind soul and we could use him here today.
