1. It's certainly a much more appropriate name now,

but the present name is how this MARVELOUS group is known to the rest of the world. With absolutely NO hyperbole, this is a HISTORIC moment, and that should be borne in mind before renaming things.

I gave it a YES, but mainly to encourage further discussion. (And I'm STILL "wired" from this event, and my sleep pattern is still totally fucked up. {yawn!})

because I think of this place as the home of the formerly disenfranchised seething rabble. I'm afraid if we go mainstream, that we'll just be one more bland website among many.

Also "Underground" has such a cachet about it. Would you rather picture me wearing a beret, smuggling passenger pigeons to my lover behind enemy lines or as just another American loading up the Volvo with Cheetos?

- bush is still in the white house
- cheney is still running the country
- one mid-term victory does not mean future victories nor does it eliminate future threats to our democracy by some other neo-con or neo-con-wannabes
