No more disparaging drunken sailors! It's time to change the lexicography

I think using drunken sailor as a pejorative should end. Sailors are hard working men and women who certainly have the right to let off some steam when they finally get shore leave, provided shore leave isn't in Basra...but how much can a drunken sailor really spend, given their meager military salaries? No, I propose we change the term to "Spend like a GOP congressman." "Spend like a republican" works, too, and rolls off the tongue quicker. If you're a stickler for detail, you could go with "Spend like the 109th Congress," or just "...the 109th."

Either way, raise a glass to the drunken sailor, and relegate the term to the dust bin of pop culture lexicography, along with "23 skidoo" and "hep cat." When it comes to spending, drunken or sober as a church mouse (come to think of it, another term the 109th reminds us needs reviewing), the shameful batch of trough-feeders the Fighting 109th Spending Brigade, is the new gold standard.
