I'm betting Pres. Cheney will resign for "health reasons" real soon. |
|
This is all my own speculation, but it seems credible that the democrats have offered Dubya a deal--no impeachment if he dumps Cheney. Shouldn't be hard to find a good reason; after all, his ticker ain't so good.
And think of the opportunity it would give Dubya--a chance to reverse his now predestined spot as the worst president in history, to lay off the blame for the worst stuff on his Rasputinesque advisors, and even an opportunity to take some credit for ending the war against Iraq in some kind of honorable manner.
Anyone else think this is a realistic scenario?

1. I also think this may happen, but............ |
|
........maybe it's not what we want. Shrub could then nominate a new VP who would then be a viable contender for the Repug presidential nomination in 2008. I have mixed feelings.

5. Do we really want that? |

This would give the person he appointed the air of incumbency come '08? It would be better to just neuter Cheney and if he were to retire what would that do to the investigations, he should have to sit there in front of Conyers, under oath, as vp for all to see.

6. I agree- and that's one reason it's important to open serious investigations |

quickly.
He'll be less likely to resign amidst an investigation of the Iraq War intelligence or his energy commission. It would be like admitting guilt. We need to keep Cheney around until impeachment or the next election. He's an albatross on the GOP's necks, and a constant reminder to the public of exactly why they lost.
If he's allowed to resign with no ongoing investigation in place, it'd be a relatively clean departure- and W could replace him with a more popular figure, setting them up for a 2008 presidential run.

8. I hope Cheney's "good" health continues. |

I have to confess, however, that in my darker moods, I wonder if maybe "Unca Dick" isn't soon gonna end up at room temp.
Think about it--Unca Dick dies in office so they can't interrogate him, they appoint a new VP who is a "Moderate" Republican that is not associated with the current administration right now (or their misdeeds!) and THIS is who is up for the GOP in the next Presidential race.
I can see how a corrupt bunch of money-whores would be willing to kill a man for gain--can't you? I can also see how they'd do just about ANYTHING to hang onto power--including taking out the chimp's handler.
I'm strapping on my tin foil hat now...

Cheney can and should be removed from office along with the madman for their crimes. It is the law of our great country, to follow articles of impeachment against them. This is NOT A CHOICE , it is the law !!!
