Is repeal of the bankruptcy bill on the agenda?

2. Sen. Kennedy was the floor manager for the opposition

before on the Senate floor. This time he will be Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Drop Teddy a note and tell him you want this revisited. I bet he is sympathetic.

4. It should be, but slight reform is all that is likely....

... it will take a grass-roots uprising to hold DEMs accountable to undo even some of the damage that this Bankruptcy bill has wrought. REmember that huge campaign contributions flowed into this Congress to 'pay for' the passage of this act to benefit Credit Card Companies, Banks, Mortgage Companies, and big business.

At most I think some of the most egregious parts might be rolled back, but right now 'undoing' the new BAnkruptcy Law is very unlikely.

can't have us democrats looking "anti-business" now can we...

I work for a lawfirm with a bankruptcy practice - the only saving grace for the new bankruptcy code is that states like California have an artificially high median income putting many people under the threshold that would keep them out of Chapter 7.

But when you get into states where the median income is in the 40's or 50's alot of people get locked out of a traditional Chapter 7 liquidation and stuck with something Charles Dickens might have written about.
