List every public figure who contributed to GOP defeat in 2006
Here's my idea - list them, one per post.

To get started, she was by no means the biggest player, but here's on of them - Harriet Miers:

1. intentionally or
unintentionally?

If the latter, I'd say Bush himself was the biggest contributor to the demise of his party in 2006.

2. Either. Many of the best contributions were unintentional. :-)

6. Chronologically, then Harriet would be followd by...

Michael "Heck of a Job" Brown. This was when mainstream America got its first glimpse of how Bush's White House rewards loyalty and connections over competence and credentials.

14. Speaking of the "Limbaugh Foxtrot", Take a Look at This
Found this on another forum - what do you think?

"Dems and Progressives, It's Time to Thank Mr. Limbaugh!

I have an idea - how about "Blue Roses for a Red Limbaugh."

There is no question that the "Limbaugh Foxtrot" had some effect on the final outcome of the Missouri vote. The delicious irony is that while the right wing was bellowing about Kerry's mistake, Limbaugh made the one of the biggest boneheaded moves in the history of American elections (and he did it with half his brain tied behind his back). If I were a Dem or Progressive, I would want to say "Thank you, Rush - for just being you." I would think some blue flowers sent to the man behind the golden microphone would be a most appropriate way of saying, "Rush, we couldn't have done it without you.'"

He's the young Webb volunteer who Felix Allen infamously referred to as "macaca". I don't think the importance that moment can be overestimated in terms of our securing a Senate majority.

Both of them were too smug and sanctimonious for words. And look where that smugness got their precious GOP.

19. George Felix "Macaca" Allen.

There's Allen on Meet the Tim, with toupee.

The Senate hinged on Virginia, and Virginia hinged on the "macaca" comment. Allen was a shoo-in until he said that.

So really, we have Allen to thank for the Senate.

20. how about a shout-out for Al Gore?
He was the visionary who saw the promise of the Internet DECADES ago, and helped make it become a reality.

The Internet(s) has been the THE most democratizing development of the last 50 years, allowing all of us in the wilderness to find each other, organize, raise funds, support progresive candidates, warn about evoting, and provide a much-needed check on an out-of-control corporate media.

From a big picture perspective, Al Gore IS the one who started it all....
