Guys, I've gotten receptive staffers on the phone this morning.

I was really polite and friendly. I gave my name, and since I was calling out-of-staters, I identified myself simply as a Democrat. I gave my brief reason for calling -- for Byrd, I stressed my admiration for the man and his reverence for Constitutional principle (would want to allow his fellow Dems to filibuster), and for a Southern Senator, I suggested voting against cloture just to show Dems are not WIMPS!

1. Granted I've only talked to Dem offices today, but they've all gone

out of their way to thank me for calling.. Being a former r-winger, I know how much the other team likes to burn up the phone lines. It's probably refreshing to get some calls from our side.
