The Gang of 14 are about to dash all hopes it looks like.

It was an uphill battle all the way and there's no reason to stop now, but since the Democrats could not get it together for the hearings, it looks like this one is going through.

Sad, but that's the way I see it. I hope I'm completely wrong, but fear I'm not.

Our only chance is if Chaffee and Snowe jump ship. Highly unlikely.

5. Walt: we're we ever as close as some have claimed?
I've been seeing all kinds of rumors: 37 for a filibuster, 38 for a filibuster, Chaffee for a filibuster etc.

But it seems that a lot of Senators have kept their powder dry and not committed one way or the other. And if the gang of 14 decides to hold fast against a filibuster, its over, since Chaffee and Collins are part of that group.

7. Sadly
I've seen hopes dashed here for five years.

It's an uphill battle. We'll see whther devotion to the Democratic PArty is worth it or not.

8. Yeah, they keep this up, and my new philosophy will be why bother
working for and donating to a bunch of masochistic losers.
