If the Gang of 14 is meeting, our campaign is working.
Friday morning, the chances of filibuster were written off. Today, Washington is spinning and the "Gang of 14" is meeting because the filibuster is reachable.

More fuel for our fire, regardless of how this turns out.

1. Graham will come out looking pretty strange after that performance
in the hearings if they do end up supporting a fillibuster.

2. That should be a fun meeting

"So McCain and Specter, exactly why do you want to get this sniveling fascist dolt on the Court? Aren't you real Americans?"

3. How many of the gang of 14 have committed to vote no on cloture?
If we can get a strong showing (say 5 votes) against cloture from of the gang of 14, I can't see how the rest of the gang would dispute that filibuster was invoked in bad faith. Even if we lost one vote from the gang of 14, I cannot see Specter voting to go nuclear.

4. The repukes don't have enough support for the nuclear option
(that's my guess)and now they're trying to threaten the 7 gang members to not support the filibuster.

5. As Bluto would say:
D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...

Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

Bluto: What the fuck happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer...
Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
Bluto: We're just the guys to do it.
D-Day: Let's do it.
Bluto: LET'S DO IT!

Bingo--they're meeting because the filibuster is a REALITY--that's a victory within itself! Don't believe the hype!

9. So it's going to boil down to who brings the greatest pressure.
The Republicans in the Senate or the Democratic/left grassroots.

10. You are right
First they said,
filibuster - "not gonna happen" then
filibuster - "unlikely" then
filibuster - "a bust" then
filibuster - "defeated" then
filibuster - "Gang of 14 meets to discuss defeating filibuster" then
filibuster - (you fill in the blank, i'm optimistic)

F'in A!!!
