Sorry! Oops! I tend to assume that most of DU is already watching, if they can, and is up to speed on everything involving this historic fight.

Kerry has just been brilliant on this. After the 2004 election, I felt physically ill for about two weeks, regretting the outcome and just not getting how this could possibly have happened, yet again, especially in light of the Bush* record. But John Kerry's powerful leadership on this and the speeches he's been making, which can resonate with his colleagues and with all Americans, have made me regret, more than ever, that he's not our president. There is just no comparison between him and Bush* on comprehension of the issues and the ability to articulate them, not to mention values, beliefs and his views on the role of government. And I feel even more profound regret when I think how much different this country, and our place in the world, would be, if only John Kerry was our leader.;(

25. No question Kerry has grown stronger and learned.
So has Gore. The two of them would make a great team.

8. Christ. When he was speaking live, on Friday, CNN cut him off,
to show archived film footage of a pro-Alito Senate speech, "for balance." CNN heard from me and I told them that I wasn't looking "for balance," but I was looking for NEWS!!! And I told them that I was changing the channel, permanently, if they felt compelled to present Republican talking points instead of breaking news. And what does Mitch McConnell have to say that hasn't already been said by his buddies?! Apparently, Alito is a "nice guy" and is colleagues just love him. So, fine, have him as a best friend, but DON'T appoint him to the Supreme Court!:grr:

11. Thank you. I am so weary of this brazen Republican partisanship,
spouting the same tired talking points, over and over, taking their lead on this from the White House, instead of engaging on the obvious issues, which are right in front of their faces! So many Democrats have spoken brilliantly, but their Republican counterparts refuse to even participate in a genuine dialogue. I'm having deja vu, since the Republicans reacted exactly the same way during the Congressional protest of the 2004 Ohio vote irregularities. Numerous Democrats got up and said that they weren't attempting to reverse the outcome, but were calling for a measure to prevent this from ever happening again. And then their Republican counterparts got up, as if they hadn't heard a word, and railed against the Democrats' challenging the outcome of the election! Isn't their failure to address what has been said blatantly obvious to even the most clueless Americans?!:grr:

crap any longer on what and where the nazi-republican say. We got to make sure that We The People are heard even if it means we take things into our own hands. Keep the fire under Our Party. Call every time one of them act like a chicken shit. Long Live Our Democracy!:patriot:

20. I agree. This day and this issue should be a lesson and an inspiration
for all of us. We now know that we can do this, when the pressure's on. And we have to keep it up, even when the pressure's off, if we hope to get anything accomplished. I hope that the words and the passion that we witnessed, today, will keep the fires lit, both for us and for those of our senators who spoke out so well. Kerry has been brilliant throughout all this, and Lautenberg and Menendez were very impressive, especially for Menendez's maiden speech. And Ted Kennedy just took my breath away! We're going to need inspiration, in the days to come, since it's still an uphill battle, but it's long past time that we took back our country! I second your sentiments!:patriot:

12. Also he spoke for 15 minutes and there has now been silence
for over 22 minutes. It was absolute rudeness on McConnell's part. We should all call his office asking why he is a petty creep and not a gentleman. He is just rude.

19. I agree. And what he had to say was just the same old, same old.
The mean spiritedness of the Republicans, today, was particularly tough to take, especially in light of the many inspiring speeches, from the other side of the aisle, that it would have benefited them to listen to. Kerry has spoken brilliantly, throughout all this, but Lautenberg, Menendez, Clinton (last week) and Stabenow were others, of those I heard, whose persuasive words still remain in my mind. But I thought that Ted Kennedy absolutely stole the show, today. I can't understand how his passion and command of the facts and the history didn't manage to persuade anyone fortunate enough to hear him!!!:wow:

10. His time was up.
And he knew it. I think he's just milking this to get your support for his next presidential bid.

John in DC and Matt Stoller think so, too.

Plus he's fucking with my Senator Menendez's first time on the floor, 2:40.

13. That's not a completely true answer
Kerry started immediately after Stabenow, who started late. I have no idea why she was later than she was suppose to be. Kerry was suppose to start about 15 minutes earlier. Senate courtesy would normally have been that McConnell would agree to Kerry getting the 10 or 15 minutes he needed with the provision that the Republicans would get back the time.

The part of Kerry's speech we heard was incredible and likely more compelling than anything MY new Senator will say. Kerry had a speech that the right length for his time slot. He did absolutely nothing wrong here. McConnell did and Stabenow did (I have no idea why she was late - but she could have cut her speech to accomadate this.)

17. I thought that Stabenow was very good, but she did seem to go on long...
And Kerry, today, as in previous days, was just incredible on this. But my favorite speech of the day has to be Ted Kennedy's. I can't understand why his passion and command of the facts didn't inspire everyone who was fortunate enough to hear him.:wow:

But I listened to both of your senators and have to say that I was mighty impressed. Both of them made a very persuasive case, especially with Lautenberg's personal acquaintance with Alito. And Menendez made a memorable and inspiring speech, one he can be truly proud of, and so can you. And I thank you. Your post was the reason that I was paying such close attention and I don't think he disappointed either of us!:applause:

Alito, all the shredding of the Constitution of the United States and the races in Nov. 2006. That is what is important at this time. Lets stick together whether we like it or not.:grr:

Get over yourself, Kerry took a stand that needed to be made and he did it for us. The media doesn't understand honor, integrity and principle so they had to come up with something that made the Dem's look bad and the Repbs look good. Obviously, you have a problem understanding these words also.

Oh, and by the way, these are the same old kerry basher blogs.Nothing new here. Didn't one of them support Leiberman?

Better than the 700 Club, any day, IMO. And he's followed by rookie senator Menendez, who also gave a very fine speech. If you missed them, it's not too late.
