2. Question re: calling senators

I've never called a Senator's office before... can anyone tell me the basics, what to expect, what should I say?
I want to call Bayh's office, I have the number in front of me- just want a little help if possible? Thanks

3. Just say that you are asking the senator to please vote against

Alito and to support the filibuster, or at least to abstain from the cloture vote if he feels he can't support the filibuster. Then just have a sentence to say why. I have been saying his views on presidential power are far too extreme and dangerous. Or you may not even have time to say why; they are so busy that many are just taking your zip code and how you want him to vote.

4. I am really bad on the telephone...

for some reason my tongue gets too big for my mouth. So I keep it simple. When the aide answers,...I say my spiel...That I am requesting that Senator Bayh vote no to confirm Alito, and that he support his fellow democrats with the filibuster. And if he finds he can not vote against cloture to refrain from voting at all. I have found the aides to be very friendly, and sometimes the conversation flows...it's cake once you do it.

7. I believe they are there...you just need to look in the replies under the
