GOP chair in NH: "Bush is going to be the LAMEST of lame duck Presidents"

New Hampshire's top Republican said that his party's candidates have been hit by a Democratic "tsunami" -- it swept both congressmen and many state House and Senate members out of office Tuesday.

Wayne Semprini, chairman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, said Democrats won big by doing a good job of tying state Republicans to President Bush and the war in Iraq. He said the GOP will start Wednesday beginning to rebuild the party in the state.

Democrats "did a phenomenal job of tying us to a perceived negative - and it's showing up right now," he said. He referred to the Democratic surge in New Hampshire state and federal races as well as nationally as a "tsunami."

"If this is what's happened around the country, President Bush is going to be the lamest of lame duck presidents," Semprini said.
