we also had some crazy nights with Cindy Sheehan being thrown out of the SOTU address - these times both seem to jive with these events/spikes

16. Nope, I don't. I deliberately clipped it.
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 11:05 PM by TahitiNut
User registration rates November 10-13, 2004, were above 500/day. January 31, 2006 saw a one-day registration 'rate' of 630. November 6, 2006 saw 594 registrations. I'm not going to either increase the Y-axis scale or resort to the inappropriate logarithmic scale - since they really don't permit one to view the more meaningful and interesting variances in registrations. It really makes no sense to compress the day-to-day variances at the average 57/day registration rate in order to accentuate the peaks, imho. YMMV, of course.

29. What Percentage Have Already Recieved a Granite Chiclet?
Not to be a party pooper. but just would be interested to know

of the 100,000 registered members

How many are still here?

I know that many leave with 10 posts or less.

By my best guess, I see maybe 500, at most, who post regularly.

I know many just read and rarely post.

How many of us are there, honestly

36. Excuse me, what do you mean by, " That's not what DU is About?"
I just don't read you. Maybe I'm thick. What you said could be read many ways.
For instance:
DU is not about being honest, but about appearing as big as possible

Really?

Aren't we Dems?

Shouldn't we be scrupliously honest, cause that's what we're about?

I'm sorry. I don't mean to attack anyone. Least of not DU

This is my home and I like it here a lot.

But I , being who I am, put a whole lot of worth in honesty

for it's own sake.

If we are not honest about things, then we don't really know where we are

and if we are operating under an illusion, how can we make realistic moves?

It's not a big deal if nobody wants to be transparent

but, that's just my personal opinion of things

38. Why would you infer something negative from what I said?
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 11:48 PM by TahitiNut
Why be argumentative? It's not about tombstones. It's not about tallying the number of non-posting registrations. It's not about setting some kind of bar about how recently anyone has participated. All of these are the reasonable implications of an analysis of active/inactive/tombstoned registrations. Instead, let's merely say, as the software offers, how many times people CARED ENOUGH (without worrying about the polarity of that 'caring') to register. That's neutral ... and ALL-INCLUSIVE. Isn't DU about being inclusive? Is it about categorizing?

Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 12:27 AM by Wiley50
I was just wondering.

I'd kinda like to know how many are really here

to have my back.

A soldier going into battle
who thinks he has 100,000 guys behind him
when he only has 1000
is really in a heap a doo doo

That's all

on edit: Bush = False Bravado
Dems = truth

34. Welcome to DU!
Fair warning:

We operate in continual, circular firing-squad mode here. And we like it.

This, many of us think, is what democracy looks like. We are engaged in continual and usually civil debate with one another over politicians, events, ideas, and strategies for making our republic work better for all the people. This constant "in-fighting" (as many have called it) can be off-putting. Don't let it get you down. When it does get you down, hang out in the lounge. Then come back for more.

I congratulate you on choosing to be a part of an internet community that's actively engaged in reshaping the American political landscape.

Here's to you: :toast:

46. Of course
the civil debate thingy will wear off around the time the Presidential primaries kick into gear. That and things are a little pissy around the impeachment thing right now. Oh, and if there is another Pope selection, I'm leaving for the duration and I'm not even Christian.

Otherwise, it's good, clean fun around here!
