"Girl Politicians Have Cooties"
Girl Politicians Have Cooties
by Jessica Valenti

Tuesday's election results were a huge win for women...so why the sour grapes?

With the Dems taking control of the house, Nancy Pelosi is set to become the first female Speaker of the House--the closest a woman has ever come to the Oval Office. Hillary is frigging everywhere, with rumors of a presidential run.

Claire McCaskill and Amy Klobuchar's wins put women's representation in the Senate to 16--an all-time high. The list of wins for women goes on and on.

Clearly, American voters are taking women politicians seriously. Too bad everyone can't do the same. Some men have been coming out to describe their displeasure with women's wins in what can only be described as a "girls are icky" line of argument (whining).

1. It must be Republican whining.
I haven't heard any of that, myself. Not even from Cons. Lifelong Cons voted Dem for the first time to stop Bush, I have been told.

2. It's actually a disappointingly vapid article....
All - what, 3? - examples are from tv pundits whom we ALREADY KNOW to be jackasses.

So there's actually nothing in the article that wasn't well-known and well-understood before.

4. So what else is new? Women have been second class citizens for eons,
and we still are in so many cultures. Perhaps it will take another generation or more to do it, or never... We're still fighting like hell, even now.

Say it isn't so, Bill Wetzel!

6. Whiners
If women had been in charge during the past century do you think we'd be in the shit we are today?

More women in office means more chances for peace.

Here's to feminism, and the feminist perspective of leading people.
