*** Has anyone ever thought about turning this into a DU fundraiser? I don't know if any of the photographers would be willing to sell their work, but every month there are several that would look great in my house.

I don't know if we have ever talked about doing a fundraiser - I'll bring it up over in the Photography forum, but I know for a fact that at least 2 people (and probably more) in this thread do sell their work professionally - so it might be an interesting project.

2. all are very nice, beautiful for sure.....

but,I always side with the kind of understatement in the "red leaf", and the dampness completes the scene. I love the subtle use of flash in "autumns new begining"!! Great work all of you folks, its almost cheating when nature gives us so much color to work with!! I have been shooting for 30 years now and just went totally digital with my new Nikon D-200. Have to get into the forum, looks like stuff is cooking real good.

but the first one is so unusual and haunting. It wins hands down for me, because it is so evocative.

11. The stunning thing about these contests, apart from the photos themselves,

is the fact that each of the images tells some important truth about our world and each gets (and deserves) several votes. In this way, the contests show that each of the entries is "the best" and the most compelling for several people. My problem in voting is that i want to vote for every single one. Like trying to pick the best "music" when types touch you in some way.

I had to go with the pond, but I loved all of them. A question about "Autumn's new beginning:"

Is that an untouched photo? Those beautiful leaves on the left side look drawn in.

Just guessing, but it looks like the leaves on the left side of "Autumn's New Beginning" look like that because the photographer used a fill flash. So you get the sunset plus the illuminated close-up leaves. Without the flash they probably would have been silhouetted--which would have been OK, too.

the artist has asked me to share that the photo is untouched aside from some very light adjusting of contrast. The drawn in quality is because of fill-flash.

Everytime I'm up there in the area, I have to drive up the grade road. It's beautiful anytime of year, and ONE OF THESE DAYS, I'm going to see a moose up there!
