The War, Torture, Katrina, Corruption, the hatred he has brought on the United States . . in the public mind, it is all connected in a Gesalt with Bush at the center.

In this past election, voters didn't just vote on Iraq. Many in the public cannot articulate it, but it is about Bush's abuse of power and abuse of this nation. The war is the most horrible symptom of his abuse of power, but it is not about the war. It is about HIM.

With their self-imposed "impeachment is off limits" edict, our "leaders" are not just failing to give the very real and justified outrage at Bush's countless abuses a voice, they are doing their utmost to suppress the outrage.

When someone emerges as our champion and the DC Dems finally wake up and take up the fight for impeachment, they http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=2426304">are going to be met by a roar of support.

If they don't wake up, I dare not contemplate the price this nation will pay.

Time is not on our side. On September 10, 2001, there were many signs that sanity was returning. The number who believed Florida was stolen had passed 50%. Bush's approval was continuing the steady downward slide that started the day he was inaugurated. A coalition that included the National Lawyers Guild and Bugliosi was about to announce a campaign to impeach Scalia et al. for Bush v. Gore -- a campaign that would have undercut Bush's claim to even a semblance of legitimacy.

Then the sun came up on 9/11/2001. In the weeks that followed, we who were opposed to Bush were silenced in a nation that had seemingly gone mad.

Sanity is once again returning, but we must recognize how fragile the moment is.

We can not afford to delay impeachment. It may seem like a tough thing to do right now, but we must "Just Do It." Any day we could see another terrorist attack, Bush could declare was Iran, or some completely unforeseen event could make it far, far, harder to rescue our national soul.

Many things were coming together for American anti-fascists in September 2001. The NORC study of the Florida election was scheduled for release on September 24. After the attack on the towers, they put it on indefinite hold.

We will never know what they originally intended to report. When they finally did release their findings, they spun like a top to bury the truth. According to their findings, not only did Gore have win the statewide recount, tens of thousands more voters in Florida went to the polls intending to vote for Gore. The later was known from day one. For any person committed to the principle of consent that knowledge should have ended all debate. Tragically, a fascist view of the law, where legal technicality and cynical misuse of the courts can trump reality and thwart out will -- won the day.

18. Any idea why they haven't brought it forward any time since?
Obviously 9/11 caused a delay, but it wouldn't have to put a complete end to this.

19. It has been percolating in the background. . .
Impeaching the felonious five -- yes, all five of them (can't remove O'Conner, but can judge, and cana render posthumous judgment on Rehnquist ) is part and parcel of exposing the truth about the stolen Florida election.

And that is part and parcel of the fight for believable elections.

And that fight is tied to impeachment (i.e. spreading the truth about the stolen election and demanding believable elections feeds the energy behind impeachment.)

It is all tied together. When Bush and Cheney are impeached we take the nation a step closer to confronting the truth about the stolen Presidential elections of 2000 and 2004.

Although there isn't an active campaign to impeach the five at the moment, you can be sure it will move front and center after Bush and Cheney have been removed.

No matter how long it takes, the nation cannot move forward in honesty until we come to grips with the truth. Impeaching the felonious five MUST be part of that process -- whether it takes years or decades to render a formal judgment.

11. He lampooned both sides equally
Let's face it, angry old self-righteous hippies aren't exactly anything we should be proud of. Notice how he wasn't really specific with his charges.

Great satire knows how to play both sides.

15. We say no.
It would hurt the country. The liberal democrats are extremists. It would be seen as an act of revenge and is a waste of time.
