Yeah, the numbers I saw were way higher than 2 millions. She spent close to 20 millions this election season, donations to other candidates included but apparently she raised much more than 40 millions.

was told by a bunch of big ex-Clinton administration people;she said at the end of that Chris Matthews weekend show maybe 3 weeks ago.She said she asked like a dozen of them at some meeting and almost all said Edwards would be the one.I think she's some kind of Time magazine right-wing columnist/blogger/whatever.

I checked electionprediction and there the number is 33 millions. I guess the NY market is that expensive. But I heard that this includes contributions to other candidates and a considerable part was spent for get out the vote efforts. So I think many Dems at least in NY benefited from that. Still, it was an awfully high amount to spend for a safe seat.
