Extremist right-wingers, this is just the beginning.
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 03:09 PM by Hissyspit
Right-wingers, wingnuts, freepers, caught off guard by the groundswell of grass-roots and rank-and-file support for action against the Alito nomination, support for filibuster?

This is just the beginning. Americans are pissed. A lot of them.

No matter WHAT happens with the nomination - whether there is a filibuster, whatever happens with the cloture vote, if Alito gets on the court or not, if he gets rejected and we get another bad nominee - no matter what happens: People are ANGRY. Americans are figuring out that they need to start fighting back and they are getting organized, using the Internet since the "mainstream" corporate media is, for the most part, failing them.

They are figuring out that the election process is corrupted, too, and figuring out what they need to do to counter. Worried about November? You should be. Many Democrats are getting their spines back, because of the efforts of real, patriotic, grassroot American citizens. These Dems were just waiting for a chance to show them.

This is the beginning. Does the past week and today's events have your worried? It should because:
It is just the beginning.

As New Jersey Senator Lautenberg said on the Senate floor today:

Americans understand why we fought the American Revolution to get rid of KING GEORGE... We don't want an imperial presidency... President Washington warned against depotism - words that have resonance today."

This is just the beginning. If you admire, desire, and value the placing of and keeping of power in the hands of American totalitarians and neo-fascists, be nervous, be very nervous. Americans are angry and this is just the beginning.

Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 02:59 PM by RobertSeattle
If a Democratic Senate has only 51 votes for a lousy bill or a lousy Supreme Courty Justice (according to the wingers) - they are going to STFU - not.

4. And to think
our actions will benefit all Americans, even those evil bastards you list who have no concept of constitutional liberty, the poorly educated and the easily manipulated - those who support george bush; klansmen and the religiously insane and those who claim to be "conservative." We are working to save them from themselves. Hey lurkers, dispute me, challenge me, display your ignorance. You Know I'm right. I will continue to abide by my oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC. You'd be better off on my side of the fight.

For better or worse.

Well put, BOSSHOG. "Support and defend the CONSTITUTION..." You get it, too bad Bush doesn't.

5. Right, a lot of the anger has been free floating for far too long
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 03:03 PM by Warpy
and spewers like Lamebawl and Coulter have been able to tell the witless it was perfectly acceptable to direct it at Liberals, feminists, Unitarians, ACLU members, blacks, and gays.

The total bungling of the Katrina relief changed that. People started to pay attention instead of getting their permission to project their anger onto people the GOP hates. That was our tipping point, folks, and it's going to get very uncomfortable for those folks who are staying in the neocon/theocon cults.

Eventually economic populists are going to start talking, and people are going to listen. That free floating anger has come from 35 years of seeing their paychecks fail to keep pace with inflation, of being lied to that inflation doesn't exist, of seeing good jobs get sent to the third world and be replaced with dead end, no benefit, low paid retail and food service jobs, and of seeing such conspicuous greed among men who already had more money than they could spend in fifty lifetimes. Being kept artificially poor in a land of plenty has led to a lot of self blame and free floating rage. They've reached the end of being able to direct that rage toward us. It's our turn to put it squarely where it belongs.

We just need to cut the DLC off at the knees, to shove party conservatives off to the side so that the economic populists can get out there and start to talk. Conservatives are great for advice on how not to go too far too fast. They should never have been given power.

7. Oh my God! The ACLU!
Run for the hills! They use THE COURT PROCESS to defend civil rights! We're all gonna die!

8. Hear that low rumble, Neo-cons?
It's a groundswell rising beneath your feet--a tsunami amassing on the horizon, beginning to roll in your direction. Head for the hills or be drowned in the tumult. :nuke:

Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 03:32 PM by Hissyspit
It's rolling down the hill SLOWLY, slower than you would expect according to the laws of gravity, it IS rolling down the hill, gathering momentum and will ultimately sweep these people away. I wish it would go faster, but, you know, the wheels of justice and all that.

12. People will figure it out.
Not everyone will EVER be on board - the new Osama tape came out, Bush went on the stump in support - he'll probably even get a slight bump for the SOTU speech, but in the long view, this is just the beginning.

22. I loved how CNN had a poll questioning Kerry's motives...
for opposing Alito... I kept thinking, why not post a poll asking about BUSH'S motives?????

I'm just thankful that I don't have cable tv... either my head would have exploded by now, or the tv would've gone out the window
