Halliburton Hastens to Complete KBR Spinoff: James Baker Drives the Getaway Car
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 11:11 AM by CorpGovActivist
Halliburton and BakerBotts are making a madcap dash to spin off the politically-radioactive KBR unit:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=kbr+spinoff

Too little, too late - and James Addison Baker III botched this one up ("big time," as Dick might say).

Stay tuned for the lawsuit and news stories.

Meanwhile, notice how BushCo. hastened to kick this into high gear after the mid-terms:

1. KBR registration statement completed, and other "systems checks" filed, to warm up the engines for the getaway: http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001357615&owner=include&count=40

2. Latest parent company filings: http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=&CIK=hal&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany

The MSM is ***all over*** this story, especially since it has all the hallmarks of a panic-stricken transaction.

Just waiting for the election dust to settle, eh?

It seems James Addison Baker III is running our governemnt behind the scenes. He's defending the Saudi family against the 911 family lawsuits against the regime, he's helping Tricky Dick to rid himself of the Halliburton mess, and now he's on the board that's suppose to clean up poppy Bush's baby's Iraq debacle. What-The-Heck-Is-Going-On-With-James-Addison-Baker-III and our Government??

I do hope he's about to be brought to his knees along with Cheney? BRING ON THE NEWS STORIES and LAWSUITS! I'm more than ready!

7. Halliburton Crawling on My Sites After This...
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 10:57 AM by CorpGovActivist
Subject: Halliburton/BakerBotts Hasten KBR Spinoff: James Baker Drives Getaway Car

To: editor@halwhistleblowers.org

Ladies and Gentlemen:

As Halliburton and BakerBotts insist upon proceeding with the shell game known as the KBR spinoff, there seems to be little choice left but for in-the-know shareholders to seek an injunction to put a stop to this sham.

James Addison Baker III and his law firm may think they prepared the perfect getaway car, but the KBR unit is not the appropriate vehicle for Richard B. Cheney or David J. Lesar - or for their aiders and abetters - to be taking a ride in.

If you would like to receive a copy of the Complaint once it is filed, please let me know.

Nigeria bribery case heats up again
Several probes active, but charges have not been filed in delta inquiry

"Halliburton's SEC statement said that some of the employees suspected of making improper payments are still active Halliburton agents and consultants."

<snip>

"Halliburton's lengthy statement indicates that the company is cooperating with the Justice Department and SEC investigations in the United States and with the Nigerian government inquiry.
Many company records have been subpoenaed and made available to investigators, Halliburton said in its SEC filing."

<snip>

"In addition, Halliburton states that a number of current and former employees and former executives have been subpoenaed by the SEC."

<snip>

"Halliburton officials have also declined to name the employee who was recently suspended or to reveal the location outside Nigeria where they believe improper business practices may have been used to obtain contracts."

<snip>

"The company agreed to the SEC's request for a so-called tolling agreement extending the statute of limitations."

<snip>

"Some investigators involved with the case expect the Swiss to deliver financial information within a month. This would allow investigators in the United States, France, Switzerland and Britain to decide whether to file criminal charges."

<snip>

"We have reason to believe, based on the ongoing investigations, that payments may have been made by agents of TSKJ to Nigerian officials," the company stated. "In addition, information recently uncovered suggests that, prior to 1998, plans may have been made by employees of the M.W. Kellogg Co. to make payments to government officials in connection with the pursuit of other projects in countries outside of Nigeria."

• September 2006: A former Halliburton employee says he has evidence proving the company has embarked on a campaign to cover up all wrongdoing, including attempts to mislead federal investigators.

• October 2006: That employee is suspended.

It gave me a quiet little smile. Here it comes.

75. I was re-reading your letter to Sen Byrd & Rockefeller...
You say you "worked at Halliburton’s Kellogg, Brown & Root offices in Arlington, Virginia from August 2001 (just before the September 11th attacks) until April 2003 (just after we went to war in Iraq)."
http://www.halwhistleblowers.org/092006senateinvestigationrequest.pdf

Maybe I missed reading elsewhere, but I was wondering whether you were you suspended, terminated, or resigned from Halliburton?

86. Should we invite some key Democrats?
Senator Byrd and Henry Waxman?
Dorgan? Boxer?

If we picked a great location with access to
a large convention hall or center and organized a registration/reservation
committee, I say, what's stopping us?

Perhaps we should submit the idea to Skinner&Company?

91. Don't know...the idea has been floated here before-
I have no idea what the official DU administrative stand is
on such a notion.

But yes, I too think it is a winner.
Now, "What say the Skinner?"

If we time it right, perhaps it could be part of a DU celebration
of justice, FINALLY, being served?

Hmmm. January, the axes fall-
February, the wheels of justice grind.
March, who KNOWS?
April or May sound like great months for
a national DU meet up.
What say you?

94. Jan 3?
Sounds about right to me.

right now we have the old rubberstampers still running things on limping legs. I haven't expected any big serious investigation to start-up in Congress until the new congress is in session.

I know from your postings that alot of groundwork and behind-the-scenes stuff have been put into motion. I'm looking at it as rehearsals and production preparation before "opening night".
