Poll question: Majority Leader - Murtha or Hoyer? |
|
House Democrats, who meet Thursday, will choose between Reps. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and John P. Murtha, D-Pa., to be the majority leader. Yes, there are other preferred choices; though most folks predict the vote will come down to being between these two.
If they are our only choices, who do you prefer: Murtha or Hoyer?

3. MURTHA. He spoke out against this freakin' invasion when NO ONE ELSE WOULD. |

He deserves the leadership role.

4. Another plus for Murtha... |
|
Electing him as Majority Leader might just make Mean jean Schmidt's head explode!! Since it's an empty space, nobody else would be injured.

5. It depends on the standard |
|
Based on voting records, Hoyer is more left-liberal on most issues.
Based on courage, Murtha had an outspoken change of heart on the War and was viciously attacked for it.
The real question is which one can bring and keep the Dems together. That's basically the job of majority leader in the House. I'm not sure of the answer to that question.

7. Murtha, for his military prowess |
|
The Repukes will still attack him, but the Pentagon respects the hell out of him. And it says, we are giving the moderates a real voice. Keeping my fingers crossed.

8. Steny Hoyer wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment, |
|
pushed for the Diebold machines in his state, and took a lovely cruise of the Potomac with a bunch of Diebold execs to talk about free and fair elections. Somehow, I just don't trust him - which is sad, because he was my congressman for a while in PG County - he seemed like such a great dude then.
John Murtha on the other hand, had cajones and I like that. He may be more centrist than Hoyer, but he also lacks the weaselly behind the scenes nonsense.
