All talk on DU has been whether to impeach this regime or investigate, yes I would love to see impeachment but there are other arguments being express which also makes for interesting thinking, as in Investigate first then impeach, hence this poll. Do we

2. We have to perform checks and balances. It's mandatory.
Those checks and balances no doubt will raise questions which will require investigations. If the investigations reveal what most of us suspect they will reveal, impeachment is going to happen.

If it doesn't, it makes the Dems in charge as bad as the Repugs in charge have been. It is not an option to overlook illegal activities, which would include not protecting the Constitution.

3. Of course investigate
we're a nation of laws, and even though impeachment is a political process, we must investigate first to find out all the stuff the Repugs were doing in the middle of the night. Impeachment does us no good anyway. We wouldn't get a conviction in the Senate. At least with investigations, we can keep Bush on the hot seat until 2008.

4. I don't think anyone is suggesting
"Impeach before we investigate." That would be stupid. Investigation is implied before impeachment. I think a better poll would be:

"Impeach"
vs.
"Investigate, but do not impeach"

5. You still have a choice
its not about getting technical, but getting the point across, being technical has and will always create problems.

6. I think
by the time a poll reaches 27-0, you probably could have worded it a bit differently ;)

7. Pick your battles. Don't let the opposition draw you off of what IS important.
Don't let them define the terms and weapons of the coming political struggle.
