Day Of The Diesel

>>That was "Coal Dust" not coal oil <<

What ?

The engine that ran on Petro-parafin ?

In Popular Mechanics a few years ago, I read an article written by Jay Leno in which he claimed that an American invented the first internal combustion engine back in the 1820's that ran on Coal Dust mixed with water vapor in a modified steam engine arrangement ~ ~ can you verify that ? !

>>But by the time he showed his engine at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, his engine was running on 100% peanut oil. <<

Yes, I know about that .

Peanut oil was one of the first he used prior to adopting petrol-diesel .

George Washington Carver would be pleased .

>>Vegetable based diesel was used long ago. WWII saw supply trucks and other engines fueled with diesel made from "popcorn" tree seeds in Chinese theater. This particular seed has been used for centuries as candle tallow, hence the name, Chinese Tallow tree......As for other veg oils, I haven't seen any article, anywhere, that the energy density, and thus the mileage, is any less than petro-diesel. Just google the web and you'll find many "home brew" kits for sale that allow you to re-cycle used restaurant oils, usually free for the asking. Animal fats, vege oils, non food seed oils (castor, linseed, tung, etc) and COAL OIL can all be used in diesel engines practically as is. <<

Okay okay okay okay okay okay, I stand corrected .

>> Ultra-Filtering is the only really "must do" requirement. Some of the heavier oils must be heated to a slightly elevated temp so the flow properly,<<

Yes, that is one problem with using these oils as opposed to gasoline . Gas have very low viscosity .

Some of the first internal combustion engine automobiles were powered by a thick dense parafin-like oil that had a separate heating flame on the outside of the fuel tank to heat the oil to a high enough temperature so as to lower its' viscosity for 'atomization' in the combustion chambers .

>>...energy density of these vegetable oils is so low... Sources, please........ <<

I said this from my own view . If Organic Diesel had an 'energy density' comparable to Petroleum-based Diesel, then this fuel would have been adopted along time ago .

I once saw a 1984 episode of RIPLEY'S: Believe It Or Not, wherein the narrator(Jack Palance) describe this old man in middle America who had adapted his Diesel-Engine automobile to run on vegetable oil as well as Petrol-Diesel .

BioDiesel, aka Organic Diesel is so overrated !

The energy density of these vegetable oils is so low, that I do not see this fuel as very useful for powering off road vehicles .

Hey, here is another factor- -

The New York Post is the only newspaper that reported Keith Olbermann's panic attack when he discovered that someone had mailed him a 'Prank Anthrax' letter .

The New York Daily News reported the incident in Clinton's Harlem office the other day, and did so in a semi-humorous way :-)

Maybe the American People like to read about such stuff .

The NY Post got high circulation in the 1980's by headlining stories about serial killers .

>>Not to make light of the situation, but drama queen Olbermann put on quite a production even after he'd been told the powder was harmless and checked out by doctors and told he was fine. He demanded that he be rushed to the hospital for more tests. I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if he mailed it to himself. I've never seen someone more desperate for attention and approval.<<

I heard from a liberal blog that Olbermann was a prima donna at the hospital, giving the medical staff and the cops a hard time .

Keith is a whiny little b@tch !

Accepting that, I do not believe he sent it to himself .

Yes it did, but I heard it was a prank Anthrax letter, then it was a harmless powder .

A couple of weeks ago, someone sent the Washington Post such a hoax !

Last September, Keith Olbermann got a threatening letter in his mail which spewed out white powder, Olbermann freaked out :-0

A few days ago someone mailed the Los Angeles Times a letter with powder, which turned out to be a food preservative - - yeah real deadly

Drudge Siren: Allen's Revenge: Exposes Rival's Novel Writings; Underage Sex Scenes

Posted by marc costanzo to cdnerds On News/Activism 10/28/2006 5:05:14 AM PDT · 899 of 916

THIS IS AN EXCERPT(offensive material follows):

>>WEBB’S WEIRD WORLD

The Author’s Disturbing Writings Show a Continued Pattern of Demeaning Women

· Some of Webb’s writings are very disturbing for a candidate hoping to represent the families of Virginians in the U.S. Senate.

· Many excellent books about the United States military and wartime service accomplish their purposes, and even win awards, without systematically demeaning women, and without dehumanizing women, men and even children.

· Webb’s novels disturbingly and consistently – indeed, almost uniformly – portray women as servile, subordinate, inept, incompetent, promiscuous, perverted, or some combination of these. In novel after novel, Webb assigns his female characters base, negative characteristics. In thousands of pages of fiction penned by Webb, there are few if any strong, admirable women or positive female role models.

Why does Jim Webb refuse to portray women in a respectful, positive light, whether in his non-fiction concerning their role in the military, or in his provocative novels? How can women trust him to represent their views in the Senate when chauvinistic attitudes and sexually exploitive references run throughout his fiction and non-fiction writings?

· Most Virginians and Americans would find passages such as those below shocking, especially coming from the pen of someone who seeks the privilege of serving in the United States Senate, one of the highest offices in the land:

– Lost Soldiers: “A shirtless man walked toward them along a mud pathway. His muscles were young and hard, but his face was devastated with wrinkles. His eyes were so red that they appeared to be burned by fire. A naked boy ran happily toward him from a little plot of dirt. The man grabbed his young son in his arms, turned him upside down, and put the boy’s penis in his mouth.”

Bantam Books, NY, 1st Edition, 2001, (hard cover), page 333. Quote is from para. 10,.Chap. 34.

– Something to Die For: "Fogarty . . . watch a naked young stripper do the splits over a banana. She stood back up, her face smiling proudly and her round breasts glistening from a spotlight in the dim bar, and left the banana on the bar, cut in four equal sections by the muscles of her vagina."

William Morrow and Company, Inc., NY 1991, 1st Ed. (hardcover), p. 36. Avon Books, New York, 1992 (Mass-Market paperback edition), p. 35 Quote is from para. 29, Chap. 2 “The South China Sea,”, Section 2

– A Country Such as This: " could see Jawbone and Ashley Asthmatic napping together in the grass. They faced inward, their arms entwined. It looked like they were masturbating each other. It didn't surprise him. … It was common to see men holding hands, embracing, playing with each other. Some of them had wanted him. He could tell in those evanescent moments between his bao cao bow, the obligatory deference when a guard entered his cell, and the first word or blow that followed it… Quick, grinding voices, turgid with repressed passion. An exploratory reaching of the hand near his groin…” <<

If Webb wrote this, he is unfit to hold any public office . He shows a darkside that makes Barney Frank look wholesome .

As a follow-up, many of the Domestic Security measures that we have now are an expansion of actions and proposals originated by the Clinton Administration right after the Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995 . One of proposals would have violated the Posse Commitatus Act that was amended to the Constitution following the Civil War and the North's use of Millitary Policing of The South during the Recontruction Era .

Big questions : :

It sems these motors are not rotary at all .

They provide motorization - thru contraction & expansion .

A motor that was 1/64 of an inch in diameter was constructed as far back as 1969 !

The world's smallest functioning robot is MONSIEUR made, wouldn't you know it, Japan . But it is just a simple phototropistic motorization .

The smallest true robots(have decision making abilities as well as tactile faculties) are the MIT 'Ants' .

The first true robot was 'Elmer' and Elsie invented by W. Grey Walter of Britain . A better example of the first true 'bot would be 'Squee' built by Berkeley in 1952 ?

I BELIEVE KATHERINE HARRIS CAN WIN !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have already stated reasons why, on countless postings I have made in this forum, since early this year .

In 1948, everybody was certain that Dewey would beat Truman in the Presidential Race - the opinion polls and bookies and even the Nuke York Press thought he was a sure win .

IT DID NOT HAPPEN !

The odds are and always have been, clearly in Nelson's favor - so no one sure be suprised if Katherine does not succede .

Chances are, the GOP will lose big this year as well .

The Average American: 1967 and Today (Much Wealthier)

Information is misleading .

The buying power of the American Dollar has gone down a great deal(compared to the rest of the world's currencies) .

Job Security is becoming a relic of the past .

In 1960 America's population was 89% White,

today it is less than 68% (not counting Latino Caucasians not born here) .

In 1960 we Americans made everything we needed right here with our own and owned industries and factories . We only imported raw materials(like petroleum)from foreign sources and some toys from Japan . .

China now outproduces the US in Steel production.

So, how are we better off ?

A ton of electronic gizmos to keep us diverted ?

>>Here is where American exceptionalism stands out. Unlike Europe, Russia and Japan, America is replenishing its population.<

With utterly unsympathetic, and possibly even hostile, aliens, unfortunately. <<

>>Anyway, when it comes right down to it, I favor an American Manifest Destiny over a world ruled by the Sharia and the burqa. <<

So do I, what is your point ?

>>That baby has already been born. Young black couple. The father is a soldier and came home from Iraq just for the birth of his daughter.<<

Designating this particular baby as the 300 millionth is an arbitrary act .

Babies are being delivered every minute .

4. De nada
A former Freeper gathered these, and then halfway through, the search function died, followed by the whole site. I copied so others could copy and save to their hard drives. The FBI may want these someday, although I imagine they now own all the servers.

6. He really likes fancying himself as a "serial killer"

"The NY Post got high circulation in the 1980's by headlining stories about serial killers ."

On edit: Note that he is actually quite careful to say that he, personally, does not think that Olbermann mailed the powder to himself:

"**FNC Breaking - Suspicious White Powder Found in Clinton's Harlem Office -nothing follows

But that is just guess work .
