1. The problem is with the question.
Personally, I wouldn't travel to DC from another state just to visit the new memorial. If I were in town anyway, which I am on a permanent basis, I would go see it (so I voted yes), but I wouldn't plan a special trip just to go visit.

It depends on how you interpret the question.

5. Hm. I missed the part of the question that even *mentions* travelling to DC...
... from another state blahblahblah.

But if you say that's the flaw in the question, so be it.

8. The point is the lack of clarity.
It doesn't ask you if you'd visit if you're in town or if you'd make a trip just to go. How you answer might depend on how you interpret the question.

15. So I guess the question "Do you plan to eat"? is also unclear...
... because it doesn't ask you if you'll go to a restaurant or if you'll be cooking?

Your world a very confusing place.

2. many people never plan to travel to that part of the country.
you'd get the same response about the statue of liberty, the big dig, the big ditch in Arizona, Golden gate and sears tower in Chicago.

9. I've never visited the Statue of Liberty.
Nor do I plan on making a special trip to do so. I don't find that sad at all.

10. Why not? Vacation and see the sights. I can't even see why people
wouldn't want to see stuff like that.

You remind me of my ex when we went to Paris he didn't want to go to the Eifel Tower because he thought it was to tourist centric or bullshit like that.

I guess I'm lucky too cuz I travel a lot anyway for work so usually I'm there anyway and I just stroll on by the sights.

11. Because I have limited funds and I'd rather go to Europe and Asia.
Intellectual curiosity leads me over the border, if at all possible.

12. Well me too. But when I was a kid man we did all that stuff then Mexico.
Once out from my parents wings I went international. Funds for everyone are limited. Sometimes you can get cheaper tickets to europe than LA.

6. This poll will soon be used
in some future regressive tactic to prove that the MLK memorial was a waste of money... GUARANTEED!

13. Those CNN polls...
...yesterday's question was something like "Do you think the Sunnis and the Shiites will ever live in peace?" Obviously I hope so, but to have to answer yes or no is kinda tough.

14. That 43% of Americans are claiming that they intend to visit DC?
Probably a bit high.
