Lieberman is occupying so much (to damn much!) speculation and concern in the liberal blogs regarding his true allegiance to the Dem party. The concern is warranted; just too bad Loserman/CT Dems put us here. But here we are...

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2006/11/13/lieberman_wont_rule_out_gop_caucusing/

It would be wonderful if just one moderate rethug Senator would switch to Indie or Dem. What a relief it would be to take the Lieberman factor off the table!!! Chafee may eventually bag the GOP, but he just lost, so that won't help us with the upcoming Congress. Are there any current rethug Senators on the radar that may switch?

Snowe or Collins from Maine?

1. I was just about to post the same question. It would be great if there were one or two.
Maybe they would consider that it would be better for them to achieve their constituency goals as members of the majority?

2. Doubtful. They are sheeple and they always fall in lockstep.

3. Snowe or Collins are our best bets,
but even then are unlikely. Switches are pretty rare.

6. Strangely (to me), Susan Collins is the more likely to go indy.

She's more of a rainmaker, with her own PAC. The list of beneficaries, however, is certainly not moderate, with the exception of Chafee, Snowe, and Steele.
Allen, George (R-VA) $5,000
Bouchard, Michael J (R-MI) $5,000
Burns, Conrad (R-MT) $9,000
Chafee, Lincoln D (R-RI) $5,000
Coburn, Tom (R-OK) $2,500
Corker, Bob (R-TN) $5,000
DeWine, Mike (R-OH) $9,000
Ensign, John (R-NV) $10,000
Kean Jr, Thomas H (R-NJ) $8,000
Kennedy, Mark (R-MN) $5,000
Kyl, Jon (R-AZ) $5,000
Santorum, Rick (R-PA) $9,000
Snowe, Olympia J (R-ME) $5,000
Steele, Michael (R-MD) $5,000
Talent, James M (R-MO) $9,000

I say 'strange' because I just don't see her as particularly bright - not as bright as Olympia Snowe. Snowe has more zeal, too ... a more evident 'inner compass.'

I agree, however, that they're highly unlikely to bolt the party - even though they're almost peas in a pod with Jim Jeffords.

5. Because some have been treated worse...
by their own party.

Rove blackmailing them to keep them in line. It's a good way to get back at those assholes.
