Freeper sent fake anthrax to Olbermann, Schumer, Pelosi and others
Crooks and Liars has video. Gosh, I am shocked a rabid RWer would do something like this. Who would have guessed? I would like to know the political affiliation of the anthrax terrorist from 2001, oh but this person has never been caught. -WB

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A California man suspected of mailing threatening letters containing a suspicious white powder to celebrities and U.S. politicians has been arrested and could face federal charges on Monday, the FBI said.

Investigators identified Chad Castagana, 39, of Woodland Hills, California, as the person suspected of sending more than a dozen threatening letters to media outlets and the homes of public figures in various cities, the FBI said in a statement on Sunday evening.

4. Arrested after he was observed
putting more letters in a mail box near his house. Turns out, one of those letters contained more white powder. There must have been enough similarities in the types of paper, pen, stamps, fake addresses, etc. for the FBI to make that connection with the previous letters that were sent.

Normally, I like the innocent until proven guilty too, but when they catch you red handed, there's not much wiggle room there to deny it, is there?

2. Is this that same Anthrax scare that Fox news insulted Olbermann over?
Yeah, Olberman could die from antrax, but how dare he go to the hospital. What a pussy. :banghead:

5. Yes, it's the same one, but it wasn't Fox News, it was the NY Post.
Same Murdoch, different outlet.

Yeah, it's looking as if this guy's goose is cooked all right, even though he hasn't yet entered a plea.

The man arrested on Saturday for sending more than a dozen envelopes containing "fake anthrax" to anti-war celebrities, journalists, and politicians may have ties to the conservative supersite Free Republic, RAW STORY has found.

Chad Castagana, a 39 year old Californian named as the FBI's prime suspect in the case, is due in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today, where procecutors are expected to file criminal complaint against him for sending threatening letters through the U.S. mail. Castagana has an extensive online history, often writing about science fiction and conservative politics, and many bloggers are convinced that he is also a contributor at the conservative activist Free Republic website under the name Marc Costanzo, whose online profile, once available here was suspended after this story first ran this morning.

Earlier today, users at the liberal websites Democratic Underground and Daily Kos brought to light the similarities between Castagana's Internet footprint and Costanzo's writings at Free Republic, and RAW STORY has found a series of eyebrow-raising connections between the two men.

In one Free Republic post, Costanzo contends that he hails from the town of Woodlands Hills; the same city where Castagana was arrested.

Free Republic was down today. I assume they were scrubbing the website... which is a felony in itself if it is proven that the terrorist posted there.

8. Will he go to GITMO?
How 'bout a little waterboarding?

Or will he be the Unabomber's neighbor at Supermax?

9. Maybe we should write Olbermann, Malloy, Cafferty, et al and ask them to
raise this question.

10. because of Hamdi vs Rumsfeld
the SC ruled in favor of Hamdi, so U.S. citizens get Habeus Corpus. Foreigners do not.
