My same-sex oriented brothers and sisters will dig this one... |
|
I heard it today on RW talk radio (so I know it's true) There is no such thing as a Christian homosexual. The caller knew from personal experience with HOMOSEXUALS SHE PERSONALLY KNEW!!!! (wait for it, this is HUGH! I;m SERIES) that they are either atheists or Wiccan! But wait! That's not the good part. Here it comes... the host agreed with her! HE said he hadn't known of any Christian homosexuals either.. now, you wanna guess what religion the hosts is? He's (you really better sit down for this one.. you sittin' down?)Catholic!

5. Given that even priests have estimated that up to a third |
|
of all Catholic Priests are gay, the idea of nobody knowing of any gay Catholics is definitely... odd.

I thought maybe the poster might have been going a different way with it, but I didn't want to assume.

19. My mom's best friend is a gay priest. |
|
He's in a committed relationship with another priest. He was working for change without the Church until Ratzinger became Pope. Now he's just trying to fly as far under the radar as possible.

... I'm a Presbyterian. We have several gay members... does that mean we're really Wiccan?

Years ago I went to a protestant seminary in Chicago. I lived a few blocks from the Catholic seminary, where I also took classes.
Along the way I met a Catholic woman who wanted to be a priest. Not a nun, a priest. She was going to go through the training and wait for the Church to change. She paid her own tuition.
I also met a Catholic man who wanted to be a priest, but he also wanted to marry and have a family. He had grown up in a large family and wanted a lot of children. He was going to go through the training and look for someone to marry, but hope that the Church would change its rules and ordain him. He paid his own tuition.
And I also met a young Catholic priest who was celibate. He told me that about 40% of the priests in his Order were homosexual. Some were celibate, others had secret girlfriends. Their tuition was paid by the order they belonged to.
It made my head spin to think that only the people in the last group, those who were celibate or pretending to be, actually had any influence on the Church's teaching on sexuality.

9. I propose that DU revoke that avatar of the rainbow flag and the crucifix |
|
I was operating under the assumption that it was possible to the GLBT and Christian. Unfortunately, that assumption was based only on anecdotal evidence not a freeper's ability to directly perceive an absolute truth. My bad. I should've consulted the freeps first.

16. Freepers have superpowers |
|
We all know this, right? They have powers that make my gaydar look like pacman next to their Xbox. Remember the long distance diagnosis of Terri Schiavo? And what about Bush himself? He can look into your eyes and read your frigging soul like a menu at Burger King.
Telling your religion is a piece of cake for them. They can pick a terrorist out of a line up blindfolded. They know when you are sleeping, they know when you’re awake.
Check it out. I was on the bus the other day just sitting there reading Group Portrait with Lady and minding my own business when this obvious Freeper dude gets on. He’s all in boots and camo and a big old W button on his coat and NRA patches and everything.
He comes and stands right over me and tells me that he thinks it’s disgusting the way I flaunt the fact that I’m primarily a top, but somewhat versatile. He knew, man, he just knew. Freaked me out.
We might have won the election but we can’t let our guard down for a minute. They know us better than we know ourselves.

The true author of books allegedly by Falwell, Robertson and others. Still Christian, still gay, still in Lynchburg (!) but no longer part of the religious wrong. Sort of like a faith-based David Brock.
Then there's that whole entire denomination known as the MCC... guess they're really Wiccan after all. :sarcasm:

Open and Affirming congregation. Ummmm, there's a bunch of gay Christian folk around. Including the minister and her partner and the accompaniest and his partner. And they live the best of Christ's teaching.

I am a lesbian and was a Christian for 22 years. I know a lesbian couple in which both partners are Christians. There are millions of gay/lesbian Christians in mainstream churches, UU congregations, the MCC and who don't attend services but identify as Christian nonetheless.
Those fools were just in denial.
