Abramoff off to prison tomorrow after informing on Dem Senators -- and before informing on Rove
ABC News: Abramoff Reports to Prison Tomorrow; Offers Testimony on Democratic Senators
November 14, 2006

Brian Ross and Rhonda Schwartz Report:

Convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff is scheduled to report to federal prison tomorrow, over the objections of federal prosecutors who say they still need his help to pursue leads on officials he allegedly bribed.

Sources close to the investigation say Abramoff has provided information on his dealings with and campaign contributions and gifts to "dozens of members of Congress and staff," including what Abramoff has reportedly described as "six to eight seriously corrupt Democratic senators."

The sources say Abramoff was about to provide information about Bush administration officials, including Karl Rove, "accepting things of value" from Abramoff....

Abramoff has been meeting almost daily in secret locations around Washington with Justice Department investigators who are examining thousands of e-mails and documents, according to sources close to the investigation. The convicted lobbyist was spotted in downtown Washington, D.C., yesterday, carrying a computer laptop case.

But the prosecutors' easy access to Abramoff has now ended....(T)he court has granted a request from prosecutors that Abramoff be incarcerated at the closest prison to Washington, D.C., the Federal Correction Institute in Cumberland, Md., where Abramoff is expected to report tomorrow.

19. If a bill is going to get passed
a lot of times it requires support from both sides of the isle. You think that Halliburtin only gives money to republicans? Abramof has dirt on a lot of people. Could get very sticky if dems are implicated and actions that are not equal to republican actions are not taken. Food for talk shows...

11. Oh please, there weren't any Dem Senators
None. If there were, Abramoff would have told all before the election.

It's pure bullshit, rethugs looking to smear Dems.

No Dem Senators will be named. But the article will be referenced in the future by rethug pundit hoping to distract by rethug corruption. It's all a "some people say" thing.

13. i'm reading "The Heist" by Peter Stone, it's about Abramoff so after seeing
this break today i went through the index of the book and there are only a few democrats listed, Reid and Durbin. That being said it could mean nothing.

16. They can exaggerate ANYTHING to make a smear - count on it.
They can build off a tenuous association and turn it into a quid pro quo with a complicit media. And then many days later the back pages of newspapers will carry the too late truth.

That's two pieces of good news for fat sonofabitch Rove today. Here's the second:

http://www.insightmag.com/Media/MediaManager/Rove_1.htm

Rove to stay until end of Bush presidency

Despite being disappointed with Karl Rove’s election performance, President Bush has agreed to keep his chief political advisor for the remainder of his administration.

Administration sources said Mr. Rove has sought to stay with Mr. Bush until the end of his presidency. The sources said despite pressure on the president to reshuffle his staff for 2007, Mr. Bush wants Mr. Rove by his side.

"He knows too much," a source said. "The last thing the president wants is another published memoir and book tour of life inside the White House."

The sources said Mr. Bush was unhappy with the failure of Mr. Rove's election strategy, which focused on national security. They said the GOP defeat would probably lead to a different relationship between the two men.
