Bow Down before your Lord
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 10:46 PM by GreenArrow
Can you believe this asshole? Talk about leading the flock astray. Bush as the Golden Calf (or Golden Chimp, if you prefer).

"When a nation is on the brink of war, the worst thing its citizens can do is allow themselves to become divided. The Bible says that there is a time for war and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:8). In fact, Jesus said that in the last days there would be wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6). When this country was attacked on September 11, 2001, there was a fierce public outcry. America wanted her enemies to pay. Now, two years later, those same Americans are protesting the war against terrorism.

President Bush is worthy of your prayers and support. He is a man who rises early every morning to seek God and His wisdom through prayer and the study of the Word. This is not the time for Christians to picket, carry protest signs or throw their opinions around. The election is over, and the man in the Oval Office is the one we, as Americans, voted in. Numbers 32:7-13 makes it clear how God feels about a nation divided during a time of war."

<snip> Begin by making these confessions:

* In the name of Jesus, I declare that I will not allow any corrupt communication to proceed out of my mouth concerning President Bush or others in leadership (Ephesians 4:29).

* I declare that he is a man of wisdom, and he is strengthened and guided by the Holy Spirit. I wholeheartedly support the decisions he makes for this country (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

* I lift up every man and woman serving in the Armed Forces. I declare that they walk in favor, wisdom and safety and that their lives are redeemed from destruction (Psalm 91:7; Psalm 103:1-6).

<snip>

19. as would Amos- and

"The Message" 'Bible' by Peterson translates some of Amos' words saying:

This is the Message, God's Word:

"The city that marches out with a thousand
will end up with a hundred.
The city that marches out with a hundred
will end up with ten. Oh, family of Israel!"

Raw Truth Is Never Popular

Woe to you who turn justice to vinegar
and stomp righteousness into the mud.

Do you realize where you are? You're in a cosmos
star-flung with constellations by God,
A world God wakes up each morning
and puts to bed each night.
God dips water from the ocean
and gives the land a drink.
God, God-revealed, does all this.
And he can destroy it as easily as make it.
He can turn this vast wonder into total waste.

People hate this kind of talk.

Raw truth is never popular.

But here it is, bluntly spoken:
Because you run roughshod over the poor
and take the bread right out of their mouths,
You're never going to move into
the luxury homes you have built.
You're never going to drink wine
from the expensive vineyards you've planted.
I know precisely the extent of your violations,
the enormity of your sins. Appalling!
You bully right-living people,
taking bribes right and left and kicking the poor when they're down.

Justice is a lost cause. Evil is epidemic.

Decent people throw up their hands.
Protest and rebuke are useless,
a waste of breath.

Seek good and not evil—
and live!

You talk about God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies,
being your best friend.

Well, live like it,
and maybe it will happen.

Hate evil and love good,
then work it out in the public square.
Maybe God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies,
will notice your remnant and be gracious.

Time to Face Hard Reality, Not Fantasy

Woe to all of you who want God's Judgment Day!
Why would you want to see God, want him to come?
When God comes, it will be bad news before it's good news,
the worst of times, not the best of times.
Here's what it's like: A man runs from a lion
right into the jaws of a bear.
A woman goes home after a hard day's work
and is raped by a neighbor.
At God's coming we face hard reality, not fantasy—
a black cloud with no silver lining.

I can't stand your religious meetings.
I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
your pretentious slogans and goals.
I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.

I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
That's what I want. That's all I want.

Even in the Old Testament, the warnings about the appearance of 'righteousness'- the 'for-show' mentality, and religiousity, were there- and still we watch people fall victim to the herd mentality- the 'easy' religious life'

What DOES the "Lord" require of people biblicly? To do justly, to LOVE mercy- and to walk humbly with your God.
Not to condemn others while having our pot-lucks, and conventions, and printing our religious tracts and handing them out on our 'mission' trips.

Whatever 'we' do to the least of the people in Iraq- we do to Jesus- that's a sobering concept-
and one as Amos said- no one wants to hear.

4. Creflo Dollar is extremely liberal.
With his biblical interpretations, anyway. Those "confessions" don't read like that in my bible.

5. And yet, when America actually DID vote in Clinton,
there was none of this bullshit.

Maybe the Bible only applies to republican loser criminal immoral and anti-Christian assholes who didn't get the popular vote but made it to the presidency anyway.

7. Everytime its the same
They quote single clauses of the bible and misrepresent the facts. (completely removing Christ’s cries for peace) Let alone god is love and of course (thou shall not kill, love thy neighbor....etc.) I still have not figured out what god these right wing nut jobs pray to, but it’s not mine.

12. From his web site...
Jesus promised us in Luke 6:38

"Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again".

Apparently they had strip clubs back in Luke's time?

GW Bush is a miserable failure; has been all his life. Everything he touches turns to SHIT... He cheats, lies, steals, etc. and grins about what a master he is at deception...

Karl Rove is one of those jerks you wanted to kick the shit out of in high school; remember them? Now he's getting back at humanity for making fun of him as a child... and he's loving every minute of it...

From all appearances many Christian church leaders are also failures; at least in spreading the word of Jesus. They don't "feed the sheep" as Jesus requested; they take their money and lead them to slaughter...

I am so VERY disappointed in so many leaders of Christianity in America (i.e. Falwell, Hagee, Dobson)!

The name 'Creflo Dollar' sounds like the name of someone in a satire on crooked televangelist-types.

If it is genuine, then it is utterly evil and revolting.

20. I am not quite sure of the status of the Apocrypha with Christians;
but I consider that Ecclesiasticus/ Sirach Chapter 4 gives a good guide to ethical living:

(1) My son, defraud not the poor of his living, and make not the needy eyes to wait long....

<4> Reject not the supplication of the afflicted; neither turn away thy face from a poor man.
<5> Turn not away thine eye from the needy, and give him none occasion to curse thee:
<6> For if he curse thee in the bitterness of his soul, his prayer shall be heard of him that made him...

<[9> Deliver him that suffereth wrong from the hand of the oppressor; and be not fainthearted when thou sittest in judgment...

<15> Whoso giveth ear unto her (i.e. wisdom) shall judge the nations: and he that attendeth unto her shall dwell securely...

<[22> Accept no person against thy soul, and let not the reverence of any man cause thee to fall.

<25> In no wise speak against the truth; but be abashed of the error of thine ignorance...
<26> Be not ashamed to confess thy sins; and force not the course of the river.
<27> Make not thyself an underling to a foolish man; neither accept the person of the mighty..

<29> Be not hasty in thy tongue, and in thy deeds slack and remiss...

"Make not thyself an underling to a foolish man ... Let not the reverence of any man casue thee to fall" - Sounds like a bit of advice that this Dollar character and his congregation might heed.

21. Dollar is also one of those prosperity preachers
If I am remembering correctly he is based in Texas, but every weekend jets up to New York City to do a service in a large venue (Madison Square Garden comes to mind). The jist of his message is 'give to me and God will give to you; the more you give to me, the more God will give to you'. Many of the people who attend the NY service are poor and are giving Dollar money they can ill afford. Dollar however is prospering. One of his teachngs is that prosperity means many things and not just money. So if one of his followers gets a free meal or something along those lines, Dollar counts that as them having receiving prosperity from God in return for the money they gave to Dollar.
