Spinning Themselves In Circles
Fully half of the twenty GOP incumbents who lost their seats in the House on Tuesday received either a 100% ranking from the joint Family Research Council Action/Focus on the Family Action voter guide or the endorsement of Gary Bauer’s Campaign for Working Families – and five of the losers received both.

At the same time, five of the six GOP senators who lost their re-election bids received both a 100% ranking form FRC/FOF and a CWF endorsement (the exception being Rhode Island Senator Lincoln Chafee.)

But fresh off the thumpin’ the Republicans took in last week’s election, right-wing leaders such as James Dobson, Tony Perkins, and Gary Bauer are frantically trying to spin the results to claim that the loss can be attributed to the fact that the GOP abandoned its base and inevitably suffered the consequences.

1. Keep Spinning And Denying...
So it wasn't the "Conservatives" who lost according to the "fiscal conservatives" and the religious right has absovled themselves by blaming the national party for ignoring them...and then there's the liberatarians who are now all excited about the "Constitution Party"...this bloodletting is just beginning and will pick up full steam going into the '08 election. And that's assuming there are no more scandals or revelations that could splinter things further.

The Religious Right brought out the church busses to bail Rove and came up short and now are blaming and being blamed for the losses. Of course these charlatans don't realize how much they've scared people...ready to come into your hospital room and determine if you live or die, who can marry or not, whose "moral" or not and whose the ones that really "count" (Catholics, Jews, Moslems and other religions not welcome).

So far no one has accepted responsibility for last week's loss and the longer they deny and blame, the better for Democrat. It means they haven't learned from the repudiation of their candidates and will field even more zealots in '08. Many "religious conservatives" weren't happy campers going into '06 as they felt they got shoved to the back by boooosh...they've become the crazy uncles of the party...who are to be ignored most the time, tolerated at best...and hidden away when company comes over.
