Oil Giant Subject of Nationwide Protests for Turning Its Back on Hard-Working American Families
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 11:14 AM by flamin lib
“RISMEDIA, November 15, 2006—With SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members fed up with big oil companies turning record profits and then turning their backs on American families, workers and community members will join together nationwide today to protest the behavior of Chevron Corp., the fourth largest company in the U.S.”
<>
“Last year Chevron reported $14 billion in profits. Last month it reported a company record $5 billion profit for the last quarter. The janitors who clean Chevron’s buildings in Houston are paid just $20 a day for almost exclusively part-time work and do not get health insurance. In just one second, Chevron makes 70 times more than the entire annual earnings of all 5,300 Houston janitors combined.”
==========
Did you know that the Republicans under the leadership of Joe Barton (R TX), the Head of the powerful Commerce Committee, gave the oil companies $50 billion in tax cuts? Did you know that they also forgave the oil companies, coal companies and lumber companies the royalties normally charged for resources mined from public lands? Did you know that Joe Barton was re-elected by 60% in the recent elections? Joe Barton, the same guy who is single handedly holding the Combating Autism Bill hostage because it has provisions to research pollution as a cause for that disease.

I hope all you Texas Republicans are proud of yourselves.

1. 60 percent of voters
voting against their own interests.
What a shame.

3. There is hope though.
My candidate, David Harris, picked up 6% more votes than the last candidate against Barton. He also brought in 12,000 new voters and did it for only .20 a vote compared to Barton's $27.00/vote. Dave spent $22,500 compared to Barton's $2 million.

He's also running again next cycle--a first against Barton--to build on this beginning.

the eyes of 60% in his district? Arrogance, pomposity, treasonous and inhuman acts still reign.

WHY TREASONOUS?

BECAUSE THESE COMPANIES ARE REGISTERED OUTSIDE THE U.S.
THEIR PROFITS ARE SENT OUTSIDE THE U.S. TO LITTLE ISLAND TYPE BANKS WHERE THEY CAN BE LAUNDERED
THEY DO THIS TO AVOID U.S. COURTS AND AVOID U.S. LEGISLATION EXACTLY LIKE THE POLLUTION RESONSIBILITY FOR ONE AND WORKERS RULES FOR ANOTHER
THEY ARE DETERMINED TO BREAK UNIONS AND STEAL OUR JOBS
THE TARGET OF HATE AMONG CITIZENS, THE ILLEGALS, ARE HERE BECAUSE AVOIDANCE COMPANIES LIKE CHEVRON WANTED THEM.

Who's responsible - stockholders of these companies and the people they vote to Board positions along with the executives the board puts in charge.
