So does Swift-Boating John Murtha open McCain's Keating Five rap sheet?
Not to mention a lot of other Congressional corruption that isn't being talked about.

7. No, I should have attributed that question to Sam's caller this a.m.

If "corruption" is going to be the criteria, that could apply to an awful lot more people than just John Murtha.

Actually, I'm in favor of the public studying corruption.

4. Yup...and it opens up Gates with the Iran-Contra problems...
...and of course the Bush/Cheney investigations...

It's time to play hardball.

6. Miurtha being swift boated? Is that the new weasel way to avoid resposibilty?
Sorry Congressman Murtha, I deeply appreciate your stand on Iraq but I have never been fond of your voting record on other issues. But this is a big tent and we take on all types of Democrats. During this election, the people rejected corruption and the smearing of those who dissent. For you to use a republican tactic of attacking a critic and their agenda (when there is no agenda other than clean government) is reprehensible and should disqualify you from majority leader candidacy. I respectfully ask that you withdraw your name from consideration.

Signed,

rinsd

8. It is Swift-Boating if the intention is primarily to destroy a person, any person, rather
than to discover larger corruption issues, except in the cases of real corruption-mongers who need to be destroyed.

We need corruption frequency distributions, so we can calculate means, medians, and modes, in order to make it possible to talk about this in a concrete way. Some people ARE worse than others, and I don't know how Murtha ranks compared to others.

9. These rationalizations are precious.
I find it even more amusing because if a DLC guy wasn't his rival in this vote, many people would be after Murtha. But the mere fact that Hoyer is DLC means he must be defeated even if its an incredibly conservative Democrat to take his place.

10. Especially since McCain wants to be president...

...America needs to know his involvement in the S&L fiasco. McCain certainly was one of the "Keating Five" and his shady dealings need to be exposed for all to see.
