3. thanks for this list
I didn't know the my rep-elect Keith Ellison had signed on for Hoyer. Last I heard Keith was undecided, but that was before yesterday's letter from Waters et al. Looks like a lot of the CBC is sticking with Hoyer.

Also interesting to see Ohio progressives like Kucinich, Kaptur, Ryan lining up behind Murtha.

4. I don't know what to think!
Murtha has some baggage. Hoyer it seems won't stand up to Bush on Iraq. Good people can disagree. Murtha pulls no punches, which we need.

Will Murtha hurt or help? Hoyer seems like a nothing there there guy to me. I'm SO sick of them.

7. That's 90 for Hoyer out of (at this writing) 116 needed to win
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 04:57 PM by KamaAina
CNN showing 230 Dem seats, counting Courtney (D-CT02), with 9 still (!) undecided.

Murtha -- and Pelosi -- are definitely facing an uphill battle here based on those numbers.

edit: Yes, I counted. Twice. What can I tell you? It's a slow day, as most of my colleagues are at a training.

20. This is not a list of how people voted, but rather of public pledges of support
The list is from the Hotline blog and is from yesterday.

14. "Why did they release that?"
Um...because it's still a democracy, and we get to see who voted for what.

16. I thought for these types of votes
it was generally done by secret ballot, not sure I see an advantage to having a house leadership vote become another issue to shoot ourselves over. To each his own Will.

18. you are right that it was a secret ballot
I believe that this is a list of those that have publicly declared their support, not an official voting record.
