I have doubts about John Murtha
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 04:37 PM by LSK
He quite frankly is hawk and a conservative Democrat. He just saw the reality of Iraq earlier and spoke up. He still loves his military thou.

Would he fight for the environment?

Would he fight for National Health Care?

Does he believe we are responsible for Global Warming?

Does he believe the middle class is being fucked economically?

Does he believe in the Patriot Act?

Does he believe in fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets?

What is his solution for social security and medicare?

These are the real issues that I am concerned about. We all know where he stands in regards to Iraq, what about everything else?

All the other stuff is background noise, where does he stand on the important things that we need worked on?

1. I have doubts about everybody but me.
I'm the only one I can count on to think exactly my way on every issue.

3. the point being there is a lot of discussion
On a non-scandal from 1980 and on who is DLC and who is not DLC and not much talk about what he would actually fight for and believe in - besides Iraq.

4. Does That Mean He Voted For The Bankruptcy Bill?
Voted YES on restricting bankruptcy rules. (Jan 2004)

I hope not because that bill was a sop to the banking and credit card industry and punished folks who got themselves into debt, usually through no fault off their own....

5. Thanks, excellent.
I have some questions too, but I think that on the most important issues, I like where he stands better than where Hoyer stands.

He *will* fight for his constituency, and for a rep, that is what matters the most. Attitudes and politics for a constituency can change over time, but Murtha has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that he stands for the people he represents.

And you'll find many people here, including myself, who are pro-military. I come from a military family. We need a strong military for defense. The problem I have with politics and the military is that it too is overplayed. Politicians (mostly republicans) use the military as a wedge issue or a hammer to beat their opponents with. It's to the point where you can't vote to decrease spending in the military or you'll lose your next election. The truth is, we are spending far more on military than we need to and we are abusing the military with the BushCo agenda.

12. Questions...
what position is he up for, what are the responsibilities of this position, and will he use it as a platform for his backwards thinking?

13. Majority Leader in the House
You know, the guy who decides what legislation gets proposed. Kinda a big deal.

14. Alright.
Now his he going to be deciding that pro-conservative legislation is going to get proposed, or is he going to be allowing whatever it is the dems want, and blocking republican legislation?

Is he going to handle the job any differently than, say, Dennis Kucinich?

19. He is what he is. I can deal with that better than
people giving the pretense of being one way and doing another.
