Time To Get Ready To Lose Another Battle
This one's over. It's time to start preparing for the next defeat.

I can't wait for the...."we'll get 'em next time" posts, which are sure to follow.

Face it guys, this country is no longer ours, and probably won't be for a long time. November '06 you say? Keep dreaming.

Frankly I'm tired of being a democrat. Since I'm not willing to sell my soul, I suppose I just won't vote anymore. Not like it matters much anyways what I think.

1. It's amazing you haven't offed your self yet.
Is this how you react to every set back? I hope you don't have a gun in your house, or any sleeping pills.

5. why don't you smell the coffee...
The Dems are getting smaller and smaller. The Red State Dem Senators are doing what they have to to survive because the rest of the party not only can't get in tune with a huge section of the middle class population, but repels them like insect spray.

2. Move over
I had these thoughts a few days ago, right after Kerry started his grandstanding BS fillibuster effort that never had a fucking chance in the world. Hey, is that Orange Co Calif? I grew up there.

17. Kerry didn't WANT to lead it - he HAD TO because no other Dem was
standing with Kennedy on it. He hadn't planned on it since he wasn't a member of the Judiciary Committee. He wasn't planning on their failures, he was scheduled to be in Europe on Senate business during this time.

You want all of us to roll over and not fight for Wes when he needs it? Is THAT the party you want when Wes may need it?

Stop spreading lies about Kerry - he did the right thing and you are trying to spin it into something else. Just like the corporate media.

22. It was a political ploy that only made us look
weaker. It was not the right thing to do. You can't get the caucus to vote with you when the other side has more leverage. You can't sell the Massachusetts state Dem platform in Colorado. When will the dem party learn. Its got less to do with spine and more to do with unpopular social policies that are shrinking our party.

23. BULLSHIT - It was all about the FASCISM Alito supports.
The authoritarianism. Corporate media makes it all about abortion to SPIN DUMB AUDIENCES into supporting the fascists because they would never support BushInc if they knew the truth.

26. Interesting, only Mass Demlibs oppose Alito...not heartland folks like you
Dems oppose Alito because of their "unpopular social policies".

Interesting.

Although I am personally opposed to abortion, I must say, you have
interesting political beliefs. Apparently you are one of the many
centrist Dems who feel that the reasons for fighting Alito are specious.

Those would be what, exactly?

Let me guess: we should move to the right.

:puke:

John Kerry is one of the few patriots left and you spit on him. Nice.

29. What a load of shit!
Kerry didn't want to lead it

If it was the right thing to do, he should have been proud to stand in front, from the beginning. That is what leaders do.

(Kerry) was scheduled to be in Europe on Senate business during this time.

He had no legitimate "Senate business" in Switzerland, blm. He had no authority to speak, act, or negotiate on behalf of the US government. It was a f*cking ski vacation, paid for by the taxpayers.

The job he was elected to do, and is paid to do, is to be in the Senate chambers talking and voting- especially when it really counts. If it was important to John Kerry that Alito be blocked from the Supreme Court, he would have been in Washington, in that big white building, twisting arms, making promises, and sucking c@ck (if necessary) to get the magic number of 41. Then, he should have been working on middle-of-the-road Republicans, trying to get 51 votes against "the nuclear option" and against confirmation. THAT is how Alito could have been blocked- no other way.

He didn't do it. It was all a show.

The Pagan Preacher
I don't turn the other cheek.

20. Do you mean Reid's perpetual waiting and not pushing the caucus
to do the right thing? At least my senators fought the fight. The reason they lost was because of other Democratic Senators who do not think it is worth fighting.

3. That is exactly how they want you to feel. Give up and they win.
Fight them until hell freezes over then fight them on the ice and when you go up to the Spirit in the sky you will have a seat.

8. THEY ALREADY FUCKING WON....
All they ever do is WIN WIN WIN. Giving up makes no difference. They WIN regardless, and the democrats LOSE. That's the way things are in this fucked up country.

6. 2 choices, keep trying or give up.
So what if the political climate in our country sucks and hurts us and the world and everyone? So what? there have been really bad times and really bad people throughout history and you know what? This is another of those times. It will happen again. But we must keep trying and eventually it will change back. I'm disappointed and pissed, let me tell you. And I will probably be defeated again and again and again. They may disappear me. They may opress me. But you know what? I will keep working and trying and, like those who may have had to go underground to work for positive things, I will not give up. Yes, this sucks. Yes, we're not being represented. So what.

13. So keep doing the same thing when it clearly is not working?
when are we going to learn? We have to be smarter, and yet all I see here is people who want to bang their head against a wall until their brains start coming out.

7. They Don't Fucking Care....
That's the bottom line. Our own so-called party doesn't give a shit what we think. They would rather compromise and make nice with the repubs.

Don't you get it? It's Nazi Germany. Facism. Orwell's 1984. They have control, and they're not going to give it up.

You can have all the optimism in the world, but when you continually lose, that's what you are....a continual loser. Guess what the democratic party is right now?

Yeah.....when it's 15-1 in the bottom of the ninth....I'm not going to get rallied up and say....don't worry, it's not over yet. It's over, and I accept that we lost yet again. And it's only one of many losses.

Things have been bad before and I expected that people would've learned but they haven't. So onward.

Hopefully when that's done -- and today's results push that inevitability even sooner than before, IMHO -- you'll rethink your position.

18. I share your outrage
But I think the current state of affairs of Republicanism is not viable politically for much longer. They are taking the country down into the shitter and even Republican voters will wake up, eventually. Skyrocketing healthcare, Iraq, bloated debt, etc., and Republicans are not doing a GOD DAMN thing about these problems. I'm a cynical MF, but I do know that this current state of affairs WILL END within the next 5 to 10 years. Just wait till they overturn Roe v. Wade. LOL! It will be a blessing in disguise.

21. Go ahead and do the weakest thing you can think of - it's been your goal
all along to take as many as you can with you.

So GO.

Don't waste anymore time with those of us who prefer to stay and fight.

DISSUADERS aren't needed, we have a corporate media for that.

24. OCD...
I was first going to say that judging by many of your posts on this board, you do seem like somebody who enjoys being miserable and you'd rather do nothing and sit back while your country is turned into a police state.

Look, I know what happened today really sucks. But we aren't going away. We can't win every battle, but we can't just concede defeat and stop fighting altogether. That's what the enemy wants. We just have to be ready for the next battle and do whatever it takes.

Just my two cents.
