When abortion is outlawed our ranks will swell tremendously |
|
It will get a lot darker before the Dawn but when hit that breaking point the pendulum will swing back fast and forcefully and the Republicans won't know what hit them.

tell that to the women who die of sepsis because they couldn't get a sterile abortion, or because a med-school drop-out did the abortion for them. I'm sure they'll be pleased to know "our ranks will swell tremendously" :eyes:

2. The point is, the GOP needs abortion too much to ban it. |
|
It's far too valuable a weapon at election time. Without it, all they have left to whip up their fundy base is gay marriage.

The Justices will overturn Roe. I'm baffled by people who think it won't be overturned.

The OP, a male, is telling me (a woman) that oh yeah, it'll get darker before the dawn, but hey! We'll get more votes. Basically, it's okay if women die, or are maimed, or sterilized, or face life-long gynecological disability because, in the end, our voter rolls will swell.
I am always amazed how quickly men are to throw my rights up the river for the sake of "votes". How MY issues are "wedge issues" and shit like that. Tell me, men, what rights are *YOU* willing to give up for "votes"? Why is it always the right to abortion, or the right to medical privacy, or the right to make my own decisions about health care that are so quickly tossed away for the sake of "Votes"?
Abortion is going to be a state's right issue. Over 80% of counties in the US do not have abortion providers. There is only one abortion clinic in the entire state of Mississippi. So again, women in rural areas, or republican-rules states, well they can just fuck off and die, right? The rich, and those in the prized states will be able to get the procedure. But it's okay. It's for the ALMIGHTY FUCKING VOTE.
fuck that noise. I'll listen to men wax poetic about gynecological rights when they offer some of their fucking rights on the table for "votes"

13. Because they don't fucking care |
|
They don't have to worry about contraception.
They don't have to worry about pregnancy.
THey don't have to worry about getting an abortion.
They don't have to worry about a period being late and not having health insurance and what will you do and you're sure you took your pill but did you? A
They don't have to worry about 24, 48, or 72 hour waiting periods.
They don't have to worry that less than 20% of all counties in the US have facilites to take care of their medical needs
They don't have to worry about not getting their contraception filled by a fundamentalist pharmacist
They don't have to worry about Plan-B emergency contraception, and getting it within 72 hours, and then not getting it filled when they take it to the pharmacy
They don't have to worry about a nonexistent underground railroad to shuttle them from state to state to get an abortion
They don't have to worry about what would happen if abortion were illegal
They don't have to worry about what they would do it if it were also made illegal to cross state lines to obtain an abortion
THey don't have to worry about birthright centers giving them inaccurate information
They don't have to worry about who's going to take care of the kid while they go out of town and wait 48 hours to get an abortion, and what they're going to tell their husband, and how they're going to make up 2 days pay
They don't have to worry about getting clandestine procedures done that are not regulated or have any means of oversight.
They don't have to worry about dying from bacteremia, sepsis, or infection from getting a clandestine abortion.
They don't have to worry about being permanently sterilized from getting a clandestine abortion
They don't have to worry about an incomplete abortion being performed
They don't have to worry about dying from a clandestine abortion
They don't have to worry about genital and gynecological disfigurement from a botched clandestine abortion
---
They don't have to worry about it, so therefore WE SHOULDN'T worry about it. Besides, we'll get votes for god's sake! And that's what life is all about. Getting votes. Who cares if women die. Who cares if the basic right to medical privacy is flushed down the tubes. WE ARE GETTING VOTES (supposedly. somehow. even though it's never happend all the other times they said we'd get votes. but it'll happen. just like the centrists and liberal republicans voting for dems. they haven't yet, but they will....and they only will if we subject every woman of reproductive age in this country to living in afghanistan-like conditions without any autonomy over her body. it'll happen...we just have to sentence millions of women to death to get it. maybe. possibly)

4. My prediction: Women will find ways to get abortions. |
|
Ever hear of the underground railroad? RU486 makes it very easy to get an abortion...if push comes to shove, and the women has complications......she can call up the undergroudn railroad for a free ride to the nearest state to have the D&C.
I'm not saying that it's fair that the women are going to have to be made to do this but we will benefit from the reich-wings over reaching.
We have to stay positive.

12. Ever hear of rural states? Poor women? Women without resources? |
|
Oh, and just call up the underground abortion railroad--I'm sure their phone number will be posted on every fucking phone booth in the land.
You're a man--which of YOUR reproductive rights are you willing to sacrifice for votes? Why is it MY body that is a political fucking tug of war? MY right to contraception? MY right to health care? MY right to choose?
Ever hear of rural women? Poor women? Women without resources? 80% of counties in the US don't have abortion providers. There is only one abortion clinic in the entire state of Mississippi. If Abortion rights go to the states, I guaran-fucking-tee you there will be laws against travelling out of state to get an abortion.
You make it sound like it's no fucking big deal. In fact, you almost seem to gloat from it "We have to stay positive"--get this, THERE IS NOTHING POSITIVE ABOUT NOT HAVING THE RIGHT TO MAKE MY OWN FUCKING MEDICAL DECISIONS. There is NOTHING positive about it. Have an unexpected pregnancy, live a 14 hour drive from the nearest abortion clinic, work 3 jobs to keep food in your kids' mouth, and tell me what's so fucking positive about some non-existent underground railroad for abortion. Tell me what's so fucking positive about that.
And you act like RU486 is an all-encompasing option. IT IS NOT. It does not end all pregnancies. It does not come without medical complications. You think once abortion is gone they're not going to go after contraception? There's already pharmacists who are refusing to fill valid Rx's for contraception and Plan-B (emergency contraception).
You're fucking delusional. But I suppose we should be "positive' about not only losing medical autonomy, but contraceptive autonomy as well. Oh wait--let me guess...there'll be an underground railroad for that. And for the next thing...and the next thing....
But it's for votes! And it's just stupid women who have to deal with it. WE MUST STAY POSITIVE? Fuck that. Give up some of your fucking rights.

We lost our party to the Republicans who have infilitrated it under the guise of the DLC.
If it wasn't for the Internet I woudln't know this, and I woudln't be able to tell you.
We have to take back our party. I will only donate to individual candidates from now on and probably only in the primaries to knock of DLC Dinos.
The first step to taking back our country is taking back the party from the DINOs.

This is the beginning of the end of the DLC Dino's. I do everything in my power to make sure they crawl back to the GOP where they belong and stay there with their own kind.
